I started the dress search early. Like, over 18 months early. I wanted to make sure I really had a chance to look over and try on as much as I could, so I immediately made appointments at two shops in the area with Mom Argyle.
At my first appointment, I fell in love with a ruffled halter from Demetrios, which I was surprised to find in their inventory. It is quite a different dress than every other dress in their collections.
The second was a fitted, v-neck with a low back Marisa gown that I found at the Ultimiate Bride. It was simple and had great lines, with a great back, which I loved.
(This is not the actual dress – Marisa doesn’t have this one on their website)
Other than these two, I just did not have much luck finding more modern, contemporary gowns. Seeing as I am from the Midwest, most of the shops really only carry pretty traditional gowns with heavy lace and beading. During my second dress search, my consultant apologized for not having more modern gowns.
Although I didn’t have many options to choose from, I was very happy with the Demetrios and Marisa gown. They both looked great on and I loved the way the fit. BUT, I wasn’t in love with either of them, so I kept an open mind.
Does where you live limit the types of gowns you could try on? How far did you have to travel to find wedding dresses that you really liked?
