Mrs. Rainbow, Tampa Age and Occupation: 22, Makeup Artist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Electrical Engineer/Programmer Engagement Date: November 27, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: The Gamble Plantation About Me: I'm a quirky (and slightly Type-A) freelance makeup artist who was born in Washington State, raised in Alabama, and now living with my one and only in sunny Florida. I'm fashion and beauty obsessed, and have recently discovered my inner domestic diva extraordinaire. I'm a wannabe chef, decorating addict, and trying desperately to be as crafty as possible---albeit only with a glue gun. I'm hopelessly in love with my fiance, and all things sparkly and feathery. Despite the glittery exterior, I'm a total hippie on the inside. When I'm not making up pretty faces, I love doing what I can to help people, animals, and the environment. About Mrs. Rainbow

Scents and Scents’ Ability (Pt. 2)

February 10th, 2010 @ 1:01 pm by Mrs. Rainbow

Catch up on part 1 here.

As I said before, scents have an uncanny ability to bring us back to certain days, times, and even people in our lives. I, personally, have two “signature scents”.

Scents and Scents' Ability (Pt. 2) : wedding beauty P168940 Juicy Couture

source

My fun, flirty daytime scent:

Juicy Couture- Watermelon, Mandarin, Pink Passion Fruit, Marigold, Green Apple, Water Hyacinth, Crushed Leaves, Tuberose Absolute, Wild Rose, Princess Lily, Tuberose, Caramel Creme Brulee, Vanilla, Precious Woods, Patchouli.

Scents and Scents' Ability (Pt. 2) : wedding beauty P144212 Armani Code Pour Femme

source

And my sexy, spicy, nighttime scent:

Armani Code Pour Femme- Blood Orange, Ginger, Pear Sorbet, Sambac Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Seringa Flower, Lavender Honey, Precious Woods Complex, Vanilla.

When Mr. Rainbow and I reunited after all those years, I was wearing my sexy scent (hey, it worked, right?!) and now almost every time I wear Code, Mr. Rainbow smells my neck and says, “that’s the perfume you were wearing when we met up in Orlando.” It melts my heart every time.

Needless to say, I’m hoping to create that same magic with a special “Wedding Scent”. Here are the contenders:

Scents and Scents' Ability (Pt. 2) : wedding beauty P246512 Lola Marc Jacobs

source

Marc Jacobs Lola- Pink Peppercorn, Pear, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Rose, Fuchsia Peony, Geranium, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, and Musk.

This was the first scent I was drawn to—just look at that bottle! I admit, I’m guilty of being drawn to (and almost buying!) fragrances without even smelling them, all because of the pretty packaging. I’m the ultimate retail sucker. Once I smelled this one though, it just wasn’t for me. I think it was the Peppercorns that did me in. Ack!

Scents and Scents' Ability (Pt. 2) : wedding beauty P9008 Hero P9008_hero

source

Michael Kors- Dewy Freesia, Tamarind, Chinese Osmanthus, Incense, Fresh Tuberose, White Wings Peony, Blue Orris, Arum Lilies, Cashmere Woods, Musk, Vetiver Haiti.

Admittedly, the bottle isn’t all that special, but boy, oh boy, that scent! It’s this delicious, sweet smelling, tuberose laden concoction that’s practically intoxicating. I love tuberose so much, you could probably pour it on dog poo and I wouldn’t even notice (OK, that might be a stretch, but you know what I mean). My only issue with this was that after the tuberose scent wore off, it just didn’t cooperate with my skin chemistry and started to smell like Mr. Bubble. I love me some Mr. Bubble, but not on the wedding day, mmkay?

Scents and Scents' Ability (Pt. 2) : wedding beauty Z210063 vera

source

Vera Wang Flower Princess- Orange Flower Petals, Tangerine, Water Lily, Woods, Musk Moroccan Rose, Jasmine Sambac, Green Ivy, Apricot Skin, Amber

Not only is the bottle fah-reaking adorable (a heart with a crown, seriously?!), but the scent is SO yummy, and who doesn’t like to think of themselves as a princess? I’m a sucker for fruity, feminine, florals, and I instantly loved this scent. Unfortunately, Mr. Rainbow didn’t love it quite so much, and what’s the point of a special wedding scent if the groom isn’t 100% on board?

Scents and Scents' Ability (Pt. 2) : wedding beauty P178804 Rock ’N Rose

source

Valentine Rock N’ Rose- Bergamot, Black Currant, Crunch Green, Orange Blossom, Gardenia, Muguet, Rose, Sandalwood, Orris, Musky Notes, Vanilla, Heliotrope.

Yet another fruity floral, but this one is a bit more sexy thanks to the musky notes. I loved the sweet femininity, while Mr. Rainbow was a big fan of the warm sexiness of it. Not to mention, I’m sure the vanilla/orange blossom combo reminds him of my beloved Code.

I test drove this scent while we were shopping and even after the top notes faded, it still smelled delicious. Needless to say, we both agreed that Rock ’n’ Rose was my go-to wedding scent!

Are you buying a special scent for your wedding? Did you and your SO shop for one together or did you choose it yourself?

just based on the notes that are in your three faves have you checked out any of Jo Malone’s at Nordstrom??? there’s one that is very vanilla and orange blossom heavy and just overall incredible.

Good idea! Every time I wear my perfume my FI goes nuts. Have you smelled Pretty by Elizabeth Arden—it’s the only one she has that doesn’t smell like old lady perfume. I <3 that scent :)

I’m a perfume addict! I currently have 8 scents I cycle through, with about another 3 that I haven’t opened, yet (thanks to the Mr.’s Christmas buying, lol.. he knows me so well), but I’m constantly looking for more! Not that I don’t love the scents I have..
That being said, I definitely want a new scent for our wedding day. Like you, I’d like something with a pretty bottle (so, I can have a few pictures of our rings taken with it), but scent is the most important!

Have you tried the rock n rose couture? It’s exclusive to Neiman Marcus and I have to admit, the black lace surrounding the bottle is damn sexy.

It was between LOLA and DAISY for me…I ended up with DAISY but because I was so torn, the lady @ Sephora gave me two sample vials of LOLA to take home with me…it’s lovely.

I plan on using a signature scent on the day of, but need to find one. I’m a tad picky, so I’m hoping I find something that is very rewearable.

Mr. S doesn’t even like the idea of perfume, so I’m just not telling him anything. I’m actually wearing what I wore on our first date… maybe he’ll get over the chemical aspect of it that way. ;)

We have the same sense for perfumes! I love Juicy… and I love Armani Code. I recently got Lola for Christmas and I LOVE it! You cannot go wrong with any of those scents! <3

Juicy is my everyday fragrance as well! The Mr. isn’t crazy about it(he’s into more clean scents) I am leaning towards Very Hollywood by Michael Kors for my day of scent. Even that isn’t very clean but I love it!

I’m excited to shop for a new wedding perfume. I tend to be allergic to most scents, so I’m looking for something citrusy or vanilla-y!

The perfume I wear al the time is one I was VERY lucky to get for free: Chanel Chance. I wore it on our wedding day. Thanks for these great suggestions.

I really want to find a wedding purfume. I’m dying to find one with the squeezy pump thing (very technical). Killer photo-op.

Oooh nice choice! I have the Valentino Rock n’ Rose (couture? I am not sure if there is a difference in scent, but mine has the lace bottle covering…) and it is definitely my “sexy scent” that I usually wear for a night out! So delish
