Mrs. Frozen Yogurt's Picture
Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader Engagement Date: March 19, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2010 Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.

Time for a Hair Trial

February 10th, 2010 @ 2:37 pm by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

So, we’ve chatted about my makeup trial, and now it’s time to talk about the hair. I was conflicted y’all. I had no idea what I wanted to do. I normally wear my hair down pretty much all the time, so naturally that’s what I thought I should do for the wedding. But then there was chatter about how it would look more elegant if I wore it up. Then there’s the fact that I’m hot by nature, my hair is naturally curly, and Texas can be humid. I was worried that by the end of the night I would look a little something like this:

Source (sorry Serena err… Blake, I love you, I really do)

But I still had to see what I might look like with my hair mostly down, so Erin obliged and here’s what we came up with:

Time for a Hair Trial : wedding hair trial 25 2

Yeah, I agree, hair down was a bad choice. I knew by the end of the night, I might not look like Serena up there but I probably wouldn’t look good.

Then, we moved on to the updo style. I think the reason I was scared of an updo was because I had visions of prom hair in my head. I definitely left a hair salon crying when I only had a couple hours until my date was supposed to pick me up. But that was the ’90s and I’m sure hairstylists have come a long way since then. So, I was willing to give it a try. I decided that I wanted a loose, side updo with some side-swept bangs. At first, she did my hair in the back, and although I thought it was cute, it wasn’t what I wanted.

Then, she redid it with a more side-swept look. I was much happier.

I wiggled my head to be sure it wouldn’t fall out (it didn’t until a little later and I needed a few extra bobby pins). So, I think it’s settled. An updo with a side swept bang. Stay tuned though, I feel a second trial coming on…

Did your hair trial have you rethinking your original style?

I’m second guessing my hair AND makeup. I found the experience to be slightly disappointing. I will admit to being 15 minutes late, but I felt kind of rushed and we only tried one make up look and one hairstyle! In my mind, I was envisioning 3 or 4 potential looks and a couple hours of pampering and fussing over until we got it perfect and I was in love with the whole look. I’m going for another trial for sure.

Oh! Whole point of my comment was to tell you I LOVE the updo. Hairdressers will shellack the heck out of your hair, so the Serena effect shouldn’t be an issue.

I like both the up and the down… you’re beautiful, so it’s hard not to like what you see! :)

I like both, too! I’m thinking of an up-do for the same reason…I’m afraid I’ll end up with a mess of sweaty limp frizzy curls by the end of the night!

I’m a big fan of up-dos for wedding hair. It’s just more polished and formal and you don’t have to worry about being a hot, frizzy mess!

Hey MFY - Can you show us a look of your updo from the front? I think that is what I want, but was wondering if you had any frontal pix. Thanks!

ok, I’m not tech savvy enough to figure out how to post another picture here and you probably can’t. So, I’ll let you in on a little secret. My make up trial has pictures of me from the front, I just didn’t want to let you in on it before I blogged about my hair. But thanks girls for all the compliments!!

I love the updo. You will look beautiful on your wedding day. I totally plan on rocking the “messy asymmetrical updo”, which is similar but I want to do mine with curls. Here are some of my inspirations:
