I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

Dress Dilemma

February 11th, 2010 @ 12:08 pm by Mrs. Argyle

Not long after my first two dress shopping experiences, I decided to go try on gowns again. I made an appointment at a different shop than the two previous places I had visited. I mostly made this appointment to hit the shops by myself. I actually prefer to shop alone; I get more done and I can weed through the stuff that is not appealing to me. It also gave me a chance to try on some different designers, which I wanted to do. At that time, the wedding was well over a year away, so I knew I had plenty of time to choose a dress.

So, I got to Town & Country Bridal Boutique (which I highly recommend if you’re in the area), and was greeted by a super-friendly staff member. My consultant, whom I love, was so helpful and sweet. So much so in fact, that I made an appointment for her the following Friday so my two best friends could join me on my dress shopping extravaganza. The consultant sat me down to talk about budget, look and feel, and the style I like. She took some notes, got some personal information and we both browsed the gowns together. Because I was the first appointment of the day, we managed to grab about 10 or so gowns for me to try on. After the first four, I had given them all a “Yes” (not kidding) and she wrote them down in my file. I did manage to finally say no to a few.

Many of my favorites were by designer Martina Liana (fantastic designer, BTW), which I’ve shared below. The great thing about her dresses is they are super customizable. Most of her dresses come in either a corset back or zipper, and many different fabrics. She even sells an awesome dress where the skirt removes to reveal a short reception dress.

Imagine this first one without the strap – it’s removable:

In one dress shop visit, my list of favorites went from two to seven. The big problem? All of the gowns just look so good on! I knew it was going to be hard to choose. Very hard. However, I did have a favorite dress after I left the shop that day. That dress would eventually become wedding gown (I will not be sharing photos of my gown until after the wedding – Mr. Argyle reads the blog).

Any of you have a similar experience? Did you think you may have had your gown narrowed down, only to find some more great options?

Those are gorgeous! I especially love the second and the last ones. :) I can’t wait to see what dress you picked, even if you’re making us wait a very long time. ;)

Stunning dresses! And I’ve never heard of this designer! I’m a fan of 3 and 4 (the embellishment on the hem of 3 is subtle but gorgeous) and I’m a fan of the one shoulder. Can’t wait to see what you’ve chosen, you’ve got excellent taste!

i love #4!! i had the same problem - loving everything and even worse, loving everything ON!

i chose my dress on my 2nd day of shopping because i knew the process could go on and on! when i finally found THE ONE, i knew i needed it to be done and done. a major plus was that even after alterations, i will come in waaay under budget!

my wedding is still quite a while away and my fam/friends are kind of shocked i found my dress so early but to me, its one less thing to wrry about and i can now move on designing my wedding around my dream gown!

I LOVE this designer, and only wish I had known about her when I was doing my dress search!! Now that I’ve put a deposit on My Dress, I have had to promise people I won’t try on any more wedding gowns, lest I change my mind (but oh, the temptation is there… so many pretty dresses!!). I found my dress pretty early, but had a heck of a time coming to terms with it being The One. I can’t wait to see what you chose– I’m rooting for #2!

I had the same problem! I loved everything I tried on. Finally managed to narrow it down to the dress I couldn’t stop thinking about, was comparing everything else to, and even though it wasn’t the top favorite of my ladies, thinking about going to get the dress that was made me feel bad, not happy. Plus, I was giddy when I tried it on the second time.

@Mrs. Mouse: Me too! That strap is so elegant and a little sexy at the same time! I hope that’s the one!
