Hokay, so, I know I promised to talk programs, but I have to interrupt that story to tell this one first.
The title of the post pretty much gives it away, but it’s true. I really. really. really. love. fonts.
To be fair, I never even KNEW fonts outside of those offered in Word and PowerPoint (my design programs of choice, remember) existed until I started reading Weddingbee. It was then that I was inundated with gorgeous DIY projects that had bright and shiny neat-o fonts, and I was immediately intrigued. Imagine my surprise to learn that these fonts could be mine too (most of them for F.R.E.E. - I use dafont.com), all with the simple click of a button!
As I near closer to my big day and look back at my many DIY projects, I realize that I’ve really been all over the font map. I think that most design-savvy brides tend to pick a font and stick with it, so that all of their projects relate to one another. Some brides have even got a paper suite that all goes together!
Me? Notsomuch.
It’s not that I didn’t think of it.
I did. I knew I should pick fonts and stick with them, gosh darnit! But you know what I did? I picked out some lovely fonts in the beginning, and I made some sweet stuff with them. But, I cheated on my first set of fonts. Then I cheated on the next set. And I’ve been a font polygamist ever since! I just cannot give my heart to one or two or even three fonts! I love them all.
Here, see for yourselves!
On our “formal” signage, I used the lovely script font, Chopin:

and, on the more fun signs, the kick-ass Love Letter (inspired by the famous Mrs. Lovebug, of course):

I used Freebooter Script in our welcome packet—to me, it is a little reminiscent of the not-so-free Albemarle Swash, used a lot around the hive, but primarily by the lovely Cupcake and fantabulous Tiramisu!

When it came time to design our invitations and Chopin Font was unable to be downloaded for some unknown reason, Brock Script was happy to be its understudy!

Then, as I started to design our timeline postcards, two cheery fonts came into play. Happy Phantom:

and the current love of my life, my complete and total obsession (like, OMG want to write on my actual walls in this font), PEACH SUNDRESS (and yes that cute little heart is actually part of the font!):

How can you not love it?!

Alright, alright, I know I’ve taken this to a new, weird level. But for today (and for the last month or so), peach sundress is the one.
Do you have am unhealthy relationship with font(s)? What is your go-to site for free fontage?
