Mrs. Hot Wings's Picture
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
About Mrs. Hot Wings

You want some whimsy in your pictures? Have you been stalking wedding blogs much? Who does that? Gasp… oh wait. That would be me. Guilty as charged. I find that props really seem to bring whimsy and fun to a photo shoot. They give you something fun to use and the photographer has something besides the two of you to focus on.

Here are some ideas. Try these and let me know what you think.

(1) The Polaroid. So all the rage!

(3) The ring. *giggling like a little girl* Yes, an engagement shoot is likely to have an engagement ring, but how about getting a little more whimsical than that? Check out what our photographer Hanssie brought with her to our engagement shoot!

(3) Books! For the dorky academics that Mr. Hot Wings and I are, we had to have books. Encyclopedias, to be exact. But you could also try pictures with books that match your and your FI’s personality and relationship.

Like this couple did! Super cute!

(4) Balloons. Sooo hot right now! There’s something about a person who has a child’s heart and can enjoy holding balloons that makes me smile. Oh wait, it could just be this guy’s face. That’s pretty smile-worthy, too!

(5) A Reflection piece. Some might call these mirrors, but I don’t want to stop your creativity with such boxed in words like mirrors. Think clean bumpers and windows, too!

A car mirror PLUS ice cream cones! Double props!

(6) Bubbles. Ah, another ode to childhood. Who can resist? I mean really, look at those colors!

What other props would you use in your pictures?

Those are really cute pics! We bought an umbrella for a prop, but it didn’t end up raining, so ….no props for us!

We used large letters that say “I Do” for our engagement pics…they turned out so cute! I love this series–so helpful. Thanks! :)

We tried to use a kite but it wasn’t windy enough. We got some great shots on a blanket playing blackjack (he proposed in Vegas), but the best shots were us playing football.

I love these props! We are planning out e pics right now. The only problem is that my FI doesn’t really like getting his pic taken. So, I have to figure out a way to make it fun/trick him. These ideas are great!

We used records of songs/artists we loved, and also candles that spelled out “congrats” from our engagement party.

I love props! Make you feel way less self conscious and dorky =) I’m using books (we’re both academics), sunglasses (we pretend like we’re too cool for school) and some other mystery prop, yet to be decided =)

My FH collects Transformers action
figures so I told him he could bring them along and hide them in the shots! I need a couple with me on the phone and him reading too!

I love how you keep mixing your photos into others! These are such cool posts and makes me wish I had been more creative with our e-pics. Too bad I hadn’t found WB by then!

Cute inspiration! The only prop that I brought on any of our shoots was a little handtied bouquet of flowers from a farmer’s market! Wish I had been more creative. Sigh.
