About Mrs. Buttons

When it comes to clear skin, I am obsessive. I dread the thought of waking up on my wedding day with an enormous zit on my forehead (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, anyone????)! Oh, the horror!!! So… how do I combat this?

I know that there are many little tricks out there to get rid of zits quickly (toothpaste? Windex?), but years ago I became absolutely hooked on a product by Mario Badescu.

Miss Buttons' Beauty Secret: Zapping Zits! : wedding beauty Op Dryi

Mario Badescu

The drying lotion is an absolute essential to have stocked in my medicine cabinet.

I don’t have to use it every day, but it gives me peace of mind to have it around when my face requires it! The solution will shrink/heal white heads overnight… it is amazing! You simply dip a Q-Tip into the bottle, then apply directly to the zit that you are zapping!

Although it will be an investment of $17 for a 1oz bottle, it is worth every penny! Typically, I only have to buy one every 4-6 months, so it does last a while! I can sleep easy at night knowing that any pesky zits I may have will be reduced or eliminated in the morning!

Do you have a skin clearing solution that you live by?

I. Love. Mario’s. Drying. Lotion. It is *the* most fantastic anti-pimple product I have ever found. I’ve even talked my fiance into using it, and together, we’ll go to bed as calamine-looking-lotion sporting folks and wake up zit-free.

This is my absolute favorite product too. I still have a bottle after a year, so it’s really a good investment! Absolutely worth it.

It’s a drugstore item in a lot of areas. There is a “cheaper” version that CVS carries for $10/oz. I have used both, and I can’t tell the difference…
Either way it is WORTH EVERY PENNY!

My skin clearing solution is my toner. I have Ole Hendrickson sensitive skin toner. It is AWESOME. It doesn’t dry out your skin, but it still keeps it super clean. I can’t live without it!

I’ve been seriously considering switching to Mario Badescu products all around, it’s just the initial investment that has me waiting. This may have convinced me, though!

Great tip - I’m excited to try this out! I’ve been doing a little freaking out about wedding day skin emergencies myself…

I’m wondering if regular calamine would work just as well. Has anyone tried it?

I use Mario Badescu’s drying cream (thicker consistency than the lotion) and it also works great! They sell this line at Nordstrom or you can buy it online.

Thanks for the rec. definitely sounds likes it’s worth a try. My skin is so unpredicatable.

Never heard of this. If I can find it maybe I’ll give it a try. I use petroleum jelly on my zits. It takes away the redness and normally only takes one day for it to clear up. Plus it makes my skin super soft.

I will definitely look into this one–I’m always looking for good zit-zapping solutions! I have had great success with tea tree oil. Gets rid of pimples, prevents them, doesn’t dry out skin at. all. LOVE IT. Downside: my FI hates the smell of it, so I’m looking for something as effective that doesn’t make him steer clear of me for an hour after I put it on. ;)

@redherring: @Mrs. Cloud: Haha! I tell Mr. B that he has to love me despite my poptart frosting face!

@artbee: You can buy it online if you want; Nordstrom carries it…and I think if you go to the Mario B site, they list the other stores that carry it!

@Mrs. Star: I’ve been curious to try the other products…at the time I only use this one for my bad zits when they pop up…but I’d imagine the rest of the line would be great!
