New Centerpiece Inspiration

February 15th, 2010 @ 3:33 pm by Mrs. Nachos

I’ve been slowly gathering the materials to make something like these for my centerpieces…

I was doing so well – I had collected the crystals, vases, votives and votive holders, and all I needed at this point were the branches. Mr. N and I were planning on gathering branches ourselves from our parents’ backyards, until I stumbled upon this little beauty…

And I fell in love. Oh me and my Libra inability to make a decision and stick with it! So we’re changing up the look of the centerpieces a little and doing away with the branch idea. I love the look of the different heights of candles and the large vase is so pretty with the flowers in it! I’m not exactly sure what to do with the teardrop crystals now. I’m thinking we could put them in the bottom of the big vase to anchor the flowers, or maybe sprinkle them on the tables.

Do you have any other suggestions for the 300 crystals sitting in my closet that would go with this look?

maybe you could make a floating candle that has them hanging from the bottom, so they’re floating throughout the water with the flowers?

I’m doing my centerpiece like this an i’m going to use the beads to 1) either anchor down the flower or cover up weight holding it down and 2) scatter some on the table so they will catch the light of the votives… what kind of crystals are you using? i’m still trying to pick mine out

I think they’d look great in the bottom of the vase! Personally, I’m not a huge fan of things scattered on the table (even though I know it’s one of the go-to decorating styles for weddings) because it just bugs me. I feel the need to touch them/mess with them/organize them, haha!

I think they’d look great at the base of the floating candles. I actually did an event where the bride used all candles and had mardi gras beads at the base of the glassware with floating candles at the top, they were stunning.

Guest book table manzanita tree w/ crystals? Very striking. I don’t think you’ll see them in the vases unless you have a light source on them. I’m with amanda.lynn-I don’t like stuff scattered on the table. I like what2bee’s idea, but I think the crystals will pull the candle under. Btw, you don’t need to anchor the flowers in the vases, just soak them in there overnight, and they’ll stay put.

OH OH OH! You should totally add a round mirror underneath!! They can be found at like Michael’s or Joann’s or other craft stores - it’ll DOUBLE the amount of lights you see from flickering candles!!

I really like the idea of sprinkling them on the tables!

Hang the crystals on the branches? Would look really good with some candlelight surrounding them!

how about scattering them around the base of these lighted votives?

I think they’d look lovely sprinkled around the table. Or is there somewhere you could hang them from? Not necessarily as part of the centerpieces, but in the room somewhere?

I kinda love the scattered at the base idea…I know it bothers some people but it looks so pretty!

I love the new centerpiece idea! You could definitely use the crystals in some of the vases, but you could also use the branches and crystals elsewhere in the reception decor, like side arrangements.
