About Mrs. Rainbow

Gimme, Gimme (Crate & Barrel)

February 16th, 2010 @ 5:32 pm by Mrs. Rainbow

Mr. Rainbow and I registered for gifts sometime in October, I believe. This was back when our wedding was in May and around 75 people deep. As you know, things have changed quite a bit—we’re now getting married in October with a guest list of a whopping 25. I couldn’t be happier about our decision to have a smaller wedding, but it does, however, put a bit of a damper on our registries that we loaded with fun stuff.

Needless to say, once we decided on a smaller wedding, we scaled back our registries from around 85 items to our current 32—and it’s dwindling still, as we buy things on our registries ourselves. Hopefully we still have a registry by the time October rolls around! We just bought a 12 cup Cuisinart food processor, because I simply couldn’t wait any longer!

Now, because of our small guest list, we kept only our favorite, most wanted items, and whatever we don’t get, we’ll just buy ourselves, if we don’t buy it all before the wedding, that is! Here are our top registry picks at Crate & Barrel (I think I could live there, I love that place).

Gimme, Gimme (Crate and Barrel) : wedding registry Z210372 Oona

source

Oona 50 pc. Flatware Set- The clean lines, the mirrored finish, the slightly odd shape, oh I love it so much. I’ll admit, I have been lusting over this flatware for about 3 years. As soon as we got engaged, I knew we’d be registering for these—thank god Mr. Rainbow likes them too! They’ll go great with our white porcelain square plates.

Gimme, Gimme (Crate and Barrel) : wedding registry Z210373 OXO

source

OXO 10 pc. Pop Container Set- My heart flutters every time I see these (sad and slightly freakish, I know). These containers make my crazy Type-A personality go wild. Just the thought of my cabinets someday looking like that make these impossibly hard to resist. I’ll have to try really hard not to label the contents too- it scares Mr. Rainbow.

Gimme, Gimme (Crate and Barrel) : wedding registry Z21037301 toaster

source

Delonghi 6 Slice Toaster Oven- First and foremost, I cannot wait to get rid of our old crusty 2 slice white toaster that I’ve had since college. Though it works fine, and it’s more than served its purpose, it’s just not the most grown up and elegant toaster in the whole wide world. What I’m saying is, I want to be able to melt cheese on my toast, damnit! And this baby doesn’t just toast and melt cheese, oh no, it bakes, it slow bakes, it broils, it might even wash my dishes (okay, a girl can dream). It’s everything I could ever want in a toaster *sigh*.

Gimme, Gimme (Crate and Barrel) : wedding registry Z210374 griddle

source

Reversible Double Griddle- Huge cooking area, and you’re only dirtying one pan- this griddle obviously speaks my language. I can’t wait to make awesome breakfasts with this—it’s the most important meal of the day, you know? Plus, say it with me, “grill lines.” Oh yes. Food Network, here I come!

Gimme, Gimme (Crate and Barrel) : wedding registry Z21037401 rack

source

Invisible Magazine Rack- Another tool to make my life more organized is reason enough for me, but I’ll admit, I was pretty much sold when I read “invisible”- I was intrigued (or just a sucker, you decide). The design is compact and pretty brilliant, and anything that will get my monthly influx of magazines off of the floor/table/bar/etc. can rightfully claim a spot in our loft.

Gimme, Gimme (Crate and Barrel) : wedding registry Z210375 torch

source

Culinary Torch- Okay, so, maybe it’s not the most practical thing on our registry, but it doesn’t change the fact that I’m pining for it. There have been times when I’m cooking/baking something and I think to myself, “God, this would be so much easier with a culinary torch” or “Gee, this would be so much prettier if I could brown it with a culinary torch”. The fact that I’ve actively thought that on more than one occasion makes my desire for a culinary torch completely validated—at least to me!

What are your favorite items on your registry? Have you bought anything off your registry for yourself?

Great picks - one caveat thought, I had the toaster oven, and it broke on me super quickly. According to the amazon reviews, this is fairly common. Hopefully, the new ones fixed the issue!

I love the stovetop griddle!! I don’t know why, but I feel like Alton Brown would be proud of me when I use it.

I looove that flatware! My FI and I have been lusting over it for years now - we’ll definitely be registering for that too!

Oh, and the culinary torch? Totally perfect for making s’mores too. That’s reason enough to buy it right there.

I love the containers, but Mr. S (the hippie) won’t let me buy acrylic. :-/

My favorite things on the registry are the All-Clad cookware and the Wusthof knives… no one has bought any of them yet. ;)

Good choices! It sucks that you had to scale back the registry but hopefully you get all the stuff you really want.

I love CB flatware. We registered for some, but no one bought us any! Also I love that torch. I have no idea what I would use that for, but it looks really cool.

Just had to say we have the Oxo set, the griddle, and the torch…we love all those things and use them so often! Also, you know, you don’t have to take stuff off your registry, in fact, you could say it’s better to keep it on there because afer your wedding you get the lovely completion discount! :)
