Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!

Only When You Fall

February 16th, 2010 @ 1:34 pm by Mrs. Hot Wings

Although we’re having a summer wedding in the peak of all peak weddings seasons, I still sometimes have wedding envy when I think of the things I simply cannot have because it’ll be summertime. My favorite season is fall—the colors, the smell, the feel, the crisp cool air. I’ve especially fallen in love with Fall since moving to the Midwest. Here is some of the what fall has to offer that the Hot Wings can’t have.

(1) Leaves… beautiful leaves.

I am totally going to miss green grass and blooming flowers :( there will probably also be no birds singing etc, but there will be the cool crisp excitement that winter brings :D

Love Buffy and If our wedding was in New England where I grew up I would totally have done a fall wedding. Leaves and sleeves sums it up. :(

I was originally going to be a fall (Oct ‘09) bride but we had to postpone. So now I’m a spring bride.

I suppose every season has its beauty. April by the beach will be great.

But I have also been fantasizing about a snowy winter wedding in the mountaints somewhere.

Guess I’ll just never be satisfied!

None of the fall stuff that you mentioned happens in Florida, lol. Our seasons are hot, hotter, and rainy, so unfortunately I won’t be getting any of the quitessentially fall things even thought we pushed back to October. Such is life.

such beautiful pics! (Ok maybe I wasn’t a fan of a skull in a jar lol). I’m very excited to have a fall wedding, it has been the inspiration behind everything!

I agree! I also love fall the best and wish our wedding could have been then (the timing didn’t work out). I had to resist the urge to use fall leaves in my motif…

I had a fall wedding but it didn’t seem quite like fall. It snowed 4 days before my wedding. And the leaves never changed or fell on the ground in the middle of October here in MN. So it looked more like early September - everything was still green or just muted colors of fall. It was kind of sad, but at least the weather was nice on our wedding day. I wish the leaves would have been crispy and colorful though, instead of green and soggy from melted snow.

I adore pumpkins as centerpieces! We aren’t going that route though, but I always thought it’d be SO cool.

I am getting married in October, but I kept trying to push it up to early September because I’ll miss fresh tomatoes, bright yellow, water ice (Philly thing maybe), and whenever I see weddings with delicate little daisies- even though I’m not a daisy person- I get jealous. But October is perfect for me- I just wish I could plan several different wedding celebrations!

I feel the same way. I love winter and i’m excited to be getting married New Year’s Eve, but it would’ve been cool to have the fall colors or the wild flowers we get in the spring.
