The Worst They Can Say is No! (Pt. 2)

February 16th, 2010 @ 11:57 am by Mrs. Nachos

Last week, I mentioned that we asked to have our room upgraded and they did it for us. Woohoo! And since then, I took my own advice and asked for something else I wasn’t sure I’d get, but I figured it never hurts to ask!

I had been waiting for payday to order our home party invitations, and left my order sitting in my cart. In the week I waited, the Shutterfly promotion had ended and the invitations were going to cost us $25 more than I had planned. Poops. So I wrote a little letter to the Shutterfly fairies explaining the situation and I asked if there was any way they could honor the discount that was no longer available.

And poof, they did! I received an email letting me know that they were crediting me 15% of the total order that was in my cart. So once again it goes to show that it never hurts to ask!

Have you waited to buy something, only to have it come back and bite you?

We waited to buy my wedding band… only to find that it had been discontinued and no one would help us track it down. Boogers.

That’s great! I was waiting to buy a basket from Etsy for one of the little people in our wedding, but when I went back to check out, it was gone. It was discontinued and she wasn’t going to make anymore! When I contacted her, she said she had just enough materials to make one last one, so I lucked out!

Good for you!! I hope my waiting a few extra weeks for the trunk show discount before ordering my dress doesn’t come back to bite me– I will be a nervous wreck until it comes in (even tho I still have 4 months to go!)…

Yay! Good job - I never ask (I assume they’ll say no) but I might try now!

I screwed up ordering a dress for my mom on macy’s website. I thought the order had gone through but I guess I hadn’t pressed the last order confirmation button. So I missed out on the discount and free shipping that was being offered when I first found the dress. Of course, she still hasn’t actually received the dress to find out if she likes it in the first place.

Wow its amazing what asking can do, I always try and make my mom do this stuff for me but I guess with getting married and all its time for me to put on the big girl panties and do it myself!

haha, yes! my husband and I were booking a trip to boston for the end of this march. The hotel room was going to be $119/night. But I waited to book it because I had to ask another person if they were coming. They said no, and by the time I went back to book the room went up to $156/night. I ended up just going with that price so that it wouldn’t go up anymore. Then I checked the hotel website again at random times. What do you know, the rate went back down to $119 a week later! I called and they gave me the lower rate. Two weeks later I checked again and the rate was now $111/night. I called and they gave me that rate now! I’m going to keep checking so that I keep saving money. I really don’t get how hotels think they can change the rates so much! $45 more one week compared to the next!

I used to keep quiet about things like that, but really, it doesn’t hurt to ask. Shutterfly rocks!! I love them for their stackable coupon codes. You can find some on their FB fanpage.

And on your honeymoon, tell everyone you’re on your honeymoon and you might get some perks too…or so I’ve heard…

Yes. Yes. Yes. My mom has totally told me this my WHOLE life and I’ve ignored, ignored, ignored. Then we started this whole wedding planning process and I sent my first email asking a vendor to trade with me and I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by how well just asking works! Yay! Thanks for sharing your experiences too!
