About Mrs. Lace

I’m Here!

February 17th, 2010 @ 12:20 pm by Mrs. Lace

Hello hive! I am so excited to have been chosen to be a BEE! I wavered back and forth before applying, wondering if my ideas were good enough, if my writing style would be well-received, but I finally took the plunge and here I am. I am unbelievably excited to be able to share my thoughts, ideas and plans with you!

I’m an elementary school teacher in California. I really love teaching because of the a-ha! moments when they go from “this is too hard,” to “this is so easy!” I also love the relationships I get to build with my students and being able to care for and encourage them. I get to see a microcosm of the world in my classroom every day. In my spare time, I love reading. I like all kinds of books, but my favorites seem to be children’s literature and period pieces. In addition to that, I love doing crafts, mainly paper, but crafts in general. I have a love/hate relationship with scrapbooking. I love the concept behind each page and the end product, but I hate that it takes so much time and at the end of it, I have about six zillion scraps leftover! Mr. Lace and I LOVE trying new restaurants and food. I recently became a Yelper for the purpose of making my voice heard on all the awesome and not-so-awesome restaurants in LA and the OC.

Mr. Lace and I were friends for 8 years before we began dating. That’s not to say I didn’t have a huge crush on him along the way.

We started dating in 2007 and he proposed just a few months shy of our 2nd anniversary. We’re planning a vintage wedding with a modern twist with lots of DIY projects in between.

Now, as a bride, I will tell you what I am NOT first. I am NOT the kind of bride that saved tons of magazine clippings and had a wedding binder (a la Monica from Friends) before I was ever engaged. I am not the type of bride who makes unrealistic demands of everyone around her (although, some may beg to differ). Lastly, I am definitely not the type of bride who dreads wedding planning. In fact, I absolutely love it – the details, the plans and even the paperwork!

I AM meticulous, organized and picky about what I want. I am a deal hunter and will always try to get the most bang for my buck. I love crafts and if I look at something handmade long enough, I know I can reproduce it and even improve on it. I have more ideas than I can implement in one wedding and more DIY projects than I have time for. I haven’t yet figured out how to freeze time and I don’t have Hermione’s time turner, so read along as I figure out what I can and can’t accomplish along the way. Again, I’m so excited to be here with all of you!

Welcome Miss Lace! I’m getting married in OC too (and I work in Pasadena and we’re the same age. OK, I’ll stop there…haha) so I’m excited to read all about your wedding. And I love your venue!
