Things I Love – Big Canvas Prints

February 17th, 2010 @ 9:46 am by Mrs. Argyle

If you know anything about me, you know how much I love Martha Stewart. I frequently buy the Martha Stewart Living magazine and regularly purchase the Martha Stewart Weddings magazine each quarter. How can a girl resist?!

So, to my surprise, the lovely Cheree Berry was one of Martha’s featured weddings for the Summer issue, which was exciting for a few reasons: 1. She’s a FANTASTIC stationery designer with a great history (can you say “former art director for Kate Spade”?), 2. She’s from St. Louis (score!), and 3. She had a wonderful display of photos at the entrance of her reception (see below):

How great is that? She used images of family members’ weddings and some of her designs and created a unique entryway at her reception location (for you St. Louisans, she had her fabulous reception at Lumen). It was a great surprise for her guests and a wonderful way to incorporate family.

It inspired me to contact her and see what she did and much to my surprise, she responded right away (fantastic)! She gave me some details, and it inspired me to go a different route with this idea. Instead of large canvas prints, we would opt for lots of photos of family members and friends from their weddings, and we’d display them all over our reception space.

I’m really loving incorporating family as much as possible into the wedding. Are there any elements you’ve included to do the same?

What a beautiful setup! We are thinking of using old wedding photos from the family as well. My sister did for her reception, and it was a hit!

I love those canvas prints! Our reception rooms have fireplaces with mantles, and I’ve been collecting picture frames to put on them. I’m asking all guests who are married to share a photo with us of their wedding, which we’re going to display.. and then they can take home the framed picture at the end of the night!

I love the idea of using old wedding photos. It was actually one of my first brainstorms, post-engagement! It’s just so personal and who doesn’t love to look at photos? I can’t wait to see how it all turns out!

That is such a great idea!! If I wasn’t having a destination wedding I would totally incorporate that into our wedding. Can’t wait to see this in full effect for your wedding!

Great idea - we’re also using fireplace mantles at our venue to display family wedding photographs. We were able to go back three generations on my mother’s side, I think it will be so lovely to see these reminders of both of our families on our wedding day.

I love these canvas prints. I’m going to (hopefully) have a family tree themed escort card table. We’ll see if it works, but I want the cards to sorta be leaves on the tree and the families somewhat intertwined like they should be. We’ll see!
