Mrs. Cheeseburger's Picture
Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PA Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student Engagement Date: June 28, 2008 Wedding Date: March 2010 Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel Reception About Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
About Mrs. Cheeseburger

Assembling these programs has turned out to be quite the time suck - good thing we’ve had two blizzards and lots of snow days this week! There are a lot of steps. They’re not hard to complete, but when you’ve got to do each step 200+ times, things get old - fast.

But I dare not abandon you, hive. Here you are, the final steps to complete the Cheeseburger Programs!

1. Cut out your program covers. Remember how the dots were hanging over the edge of the circle? This is why it doesn’t matter - you cut them away! I chose to use scalloped scissors - I think they add visual interest and also give you a little wiggle room in the event that you screw up (though remember, you are following along a circle)

2. Attach the cover to a circle card. I just eyeballed it - they’re not perfect. Repeat a million times and then set them aside.

3. Now grab the rest of your circle cards and some thin ribbon. Cut the ribbon in strips about 22-24″ long. Then lay them, relatively centered, across the circle. Secure the ribbon in the middle with whatever you’ve got - I just used scotch tape.

4. Set aside your front and back cover circle cards for now. Now for the accordion part. Using a bone folder, score down the front middle line.

This will make folding the programs in half very easy.

5. Now fold the first and fourth sections over with the bone folder

6. Once they were all folded up, I started with adhering the accordion to the back cover, over the taped-down ribbon:

7. Ahh yes, it would never be that easy, right? So the corners hang over because, well, it’s a rectangle over a circle - awesome! I was committed to this idea when I did my first run through, and I decided not to let this little fact change my mind. The next step is to cut those corners off!

8. Finally, secure your program covers onto the front of the accordion, and tie your ribbon in a pretty bow!

TADA!

And one million hours later, you too can have a mountain of programs waiting to be tied (by Burger, because looking at them makes me want to puke)!

(Foot included purposefully for scale. It’s a MONSTROUS pile)

Thanks for sticking with me through this process!

How happy were you when your programs were finished?!

I like the scalloped edge trick a lot, I didn’t even think of that.
I’m not happy yet because my programs are no where close to being finished. Bah.

Such a cute idea, and they came together magnificently. Programs are the one project I haven’t even thought about at all! We might just go with a Papersource kit, some of those look pretty nice. You’re inspiring, though.

How did you print those long programs? Did you do them yourself or have printer do it?

LOVE the quilted background.

Oh man, this post makes me so happy we (I) decided on no programs. I waver every so often, but this has solidified my stance! I do not have the patience needed to make cute ones!

They look great but I have to give you some major points—I could make like 10 and then I’d be d-o-n-e. I’m patient but not that patient. Probably the very reason why I’ve never made the very time intensive Christmas cards I love—making 50 would kill me.

How many did you end up making?
