Mrs. Paisley, Orange County, CA Age and Occupation: 25, Journalist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Spanish Professor Engagement Date: September 2008 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: Family Lake House About Me: From my earliest days I attracted attention, as much for my intelligence as for beauty. I display an originality, a perspicacity, a certain je ne sais quoi that sets me apart. I posses a mysterious authority which compels people to do my bidding. I am a regal blonde with classic features and the daintiness of Dresden porcelain. I am poised, soft-spoken, and well educated... Okay, now that enough eyebrows have sufficiently shot through the roof, everybody can relax---I kid! About Mrs. Paisley

I’ve had some interest from friends and fellow brides on my wedding spending and finding good deals. I’ve scored big time on the classifieds here on Weddingbee, The Knot’s Trash-to-Treasure board, and Craigslist. Why, just last weekend, my dear cousin and bridesmaid picked up another 40 cylinder vases (I have about 200 more!) for my centerpieces that I found for a steal on Weddingbee.

Some of my favorite finds?

Probably the best deal I got was finding four gimongous glass beverage dispensers on Craigslist and paying $20 for each when they’re worth $100 each. I lucked out––the very first day I decided I wanted these at my wedding, I searched CL and found one! Then I found two more from a bride, and then one more off CL for a complete set of four:

And finally, probably my favorite find: my veil, purchased from the Weddingbee classifieds for $150. This was the veil designer I fell in love with at my first bridal salon visit. Jennifer Leigh. I just think she makes the prettiest veils, but they are so expensive! This one is cathedral length, edged in fine silver thread and embellished with freshwater pearls and rhinestones ever-so-delicately on the edges.

My advice if you want to scour Craigslist: You CAN get some great deals and save a TON of money––just start EARLY. Over the past year, I’ve saved about $10,000 on decorations, centerpieces and lots of other wedding things. Keep your eyes peeled for a post on my (currently ongoing) wedding budget breakdown to get the dirty deets. :) Happy hunting!

I never thought about CraigsList. Good thinking. I did score some nice things off of Etsy, most particularly my veil and headpiece. Costco when the Christmas stuff came out in early fall was a godsend for the little LED tea lights.

:) I’ve found some great deals on Craigslist including someone to do minor alterations on my dress - she is amazing- and affordable! I’m using her to make alterations on multiple dresses for the wedding and am saving a boat load of cash :)

I haven’t started looking yet, but I’ll have to take your advice.

Side note - a girl told me last night at the STL Bee Meet-up that she found shepherds hooks at Dollar Tree - so don’t forget to check there, too!

Good call on all of these sources! Although I have to say, all the things I’ve gotten off of the WB Classifieds, I’m not going to end up using, so that is a bit annoying! I just get sucked in and make snap decisions and end up buying things I don’t want or need…Ooopsies!

Oh, Craigslist is my savior. I found a florist and likely ceremony musicians using it. (One I responded to and I put a gig notice for the musicians.) Plus, 100 votives (with candle) for $50, enough jars for a candy buffet for $40 with two wicker baskets thrown in. And I got table numbers from a fellow bee in Santa Monica on the cheap as well.

I can’t wait to sell my own stuff that way. And I’m sure the FI will be happy for it to be out of the apartment.
