Mrs. Sewing's Picture
Mrs. Sewing, San Mateo, CA/Honolulu, HI Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical Engineer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical Engineer Engagement Date: June 27, 2009 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Anela Garden Chapel & Japanese Cultural Center, Honolulu About Me: I'm an easily entertained, compulsive idea-scheming machine who loves good art, good food, and a good engineering challenge. I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!

Put it in the Bag

February 18th, 2010 @ 12:19 pm by Mrs. Sewing

In addition to our chair-cover-bag-favors, I think we need some more things to force upon our guests.

Why, you ask? Isn’t the bag enough? Sure it is, but if you give a mouse a cookie… he’s going to want to put something in that bag, no?

I admit, I’m one of those free-stuff-snagging-hoarders. I used to go to job fairs just to get the free stuff off the tables (not just the junky pencils and keychains, but you know, the good stuff, the laser pointers and interesting gadgets). When I go to a wedding, I keep the program, the escort card, the placecard, heck, even the menu card - and of course, the favor. Usually I have no where to put said items, since bringing a giant “stuff” bag to a wedding would probably fall under the no-no-you-crazy-woman list.

So I’m solving the problem for people like me by supplying the stuff bag. Let’s stuff it, shall we?

While sifting through my Oriental Trading catalog for said undesirable knick knacks, I happened upon this:

Put it in the Bag : wedding favors 14 303 14_303

(source)

True, it’s just another organza bag that you stuff with Jordan almonds, but - it’s a totally cute flower shape. How awesome would this look with little red candies inside, sitting on each guest’s white, round dinner plate?

And everyone loves candy, right? According to every modern wedding site I’ve seen thus far, people prefer edible favors over knick-knacks. At least people who aren’t like me. So I think this will work out quite nicely.

“I must have it!” I state out loud to myself. Click, click, onto the internets.

Moments pass, minutes pass.

“Where the heck is it?!” For the life of me, I can’t find it on their website. So I do a Google search instead. It pops up momentarily and I sigh in relief until…

Put it in the Bag : wedding favors Porque

IT’S SOLD OUT.

Don’t you hate it when this happens?

They won’t let me backorder them, so I’ll have to wait around and see if they replenish the stock. Maybe I’ll make my own alternative? Or worst-case, I can buy them at a marked up price from a third party seller.

Has anyone else had their plans shattered by an unavailable item? What did you do about it?

It’s as if sometimes the laws of the universe just aren’t with you when you try to order that special item.

did you check out shindigz.com yet? They might have it as they have similar items.

No worries!!! That favor is an Italian wedding favor. You can make them yourself….here’s a link to the ribbon.

To search, type in Cometa ribbon…there are quite a few sites where you can buy them. There’s even a You Tube video on how to put them together!

The ribbon comes in lots of colors, too!

I love those drawings! I bought my BM’s this cute necklace with their initial on it, but they had all the initials but one! I couldn’t pass them up so I’m going to order them another monogrammed necklace on etsy.

Have you found your flowers? If not, they have been on CLEARANCE on this website. ( I feel like sales are so exciting, sometimes they just need to be capped!)
