I can usually be found with my nose in a book, my feet (or at least my toes) on the ground, my head in the clouds, and my arm around the prettiest girl you ever saw- aka Fiancee Stripes. Together we’re planning a FUN vintage/modern French carnival wedding extravaganza and rockin’ dance party on a dime. (Say that three times fast!) Good coffee, long lists, Uniball pens, and my iPhone keep me sane, and making art, making trouble, and making out keep me happy! I love urban adventures, bike rides that end with afternoon drinks, breakfast for dinner, beautiful light, photography, travel, my furry family, and of course, my beautiful fiancee! I’m super excited to be here and can’t wait to share all our adventures as we craft a joyful, budget-friendly, design-savvy and all-around AWESOME wedding!
About Ms. Stripes

As I mentioned in my last post, my shoe dilemma is two-fold: it’s both a physical and an existential problemo! Yes, we’re really still talking about shoes.

Let’s recap:

There is the obvious physical terrain problem AND there’s the existential Am-I-Really-A-Sky-High-Heel-Girl problem. And while we’re talking about problems—there’s the Can-I-Ruin-$900-Shoes problem, too. Sigh.

So the score is:

Physical: 7, Existential: 7, Me:0

Of course, as some of you mentioned, there are a few solutions to the physical dilemma:

  1. Pay $900 and say screw the shoes. (And possibly my ankle/our honeymoon)
  2. Find a deal on eBay and say screw the shoes. (And my ankle??)
  3. Use sole mates and try not to screw the shoes. (With a short dress, though??)
  4. Don’t wear such damn precious shoes. (What fun is that?)

AND then there are a few solutions that solve both my existential/physical dilemmas.

There’s GEOMETRY:

The Great Shoe Dilemma: The Solution(s) : wedding shoes 1 1

source

THERE ARE BOWS:

The Great Shoe Dilemma: The Solution(s) : wedding shoes 2 2

source

THERE’S BOLD COLOR:

The Great Shoe Dilemma: The Solution(s) : wedding shoes 3 3

source

AND THEN THERE’S THE HOLY GRAIL. Seriously this one kicks any problem, existential or otherwise in the a*#!

The Great Shoe Dilemma: The Solution(s) : wedding shoes 4 4

source

I’m just not sure I’m sold on any one solution yet though. So what do you think, hive? Which solution would you go with?

I can just imagine the shoe porn that a really kick-a$$ photographer would make out of those Marc Jacobs - can’t you?!

I’m just too practical to choose shoes that I wouldn’t have an opportunity to wear again so I’d go with ruffles and flowers b/c that’s me. I’m not really the type to wear the brightly colored shoe even though it looks fabulous in photos.

It took me a year, yes a whole year to pick out my shoes. I was toying with Louboutions .I can’t really afford them…I mean I CAN but then I wouldn’t eat for a month. I found a pair of shoes and Nordstroms for $98 that I LOOVE even more so I think I was caught up more in the idea of the designer shoe than finding a shoe I actually really liked. This may not be what you are going through though.

I agree with the previous poster…go ahead and splurge! (Is it acceptable to put shoes on your shower registry?)

I have to admit that I’m working in the dark here, but $900 for shoes/footwear seem just a bit excessive to me. For some, that’s the cost of a dress - which is more of a valid expense. If you can afford it, then go for it but there’s got to be a better way.

If you do not wear the last pair of shoes, I will find someone to come over there and open a can of whoop ass on you. Those are not shoes that you say no to. Do it.

Buy all of them! Just kidding (though I wish I weren’t). I heart MJ though, so there’s my vote :)

I just love them all.

The last ones have that beckoning call yanno? It’s like Marc is calling your name! He’s saying “Miss Stripes…come to me!”

@thebriz: Hee hee. I totally agree it’s a crazy amount to spend on shoes too! That’s part of why I’m harping on it so much! I’m in no way committed to spending this much, but I’m not totally against it either since I spent about 200 on my dress!

OHhhhhhh….okay, I loooove the Anthropologie (geometry) ones….. So very cool and retro. If you go with the bump it hair style…. fabulous!!!!!

Honestly, they are all spectacular. The ones with the bows are probably my least fav, though.
