Compelled: Now What?

February 19th, 2010 @ 1:15 pm by Mrs. Pencils

Last week, the mister and I were trapped inside the house during Snowpocalypse here in the Mid-Atlantic. What’s a girl to do but gather the yards of ribbon she has and do somethin’ with it?

Inspired by DIY Friday post from a few weeks back, I decided to make some Ribbon Pomanders following the tutorial of comrade ccranetobe. It’s amazing, and if you like the results below, follow the amazing tutorial here!

Following ccranetobe’s instructions, I gathered my Styrofoam ball, my ribbon, scissors and some pins:

“measured” out the ribbon:

starting pinning the ribbon on the ball:

and magically, two hours later, I had this!

Now that I’ve created my requisite pomander, WTF do I do with it? Line the aisle? Put them at the gift and guestbook tables? Hang them from the greenery at the “altar”? What should I do, hive?

Have you tried any of the DIY from DIY Fridays here on the blog?

So chic! I love the idea of stringing poms along a wide doorway. The pews would be cute too.

That’s a great idea and pretty but I’m not sure what I would do with them either.

love it. These would be cute lining your chairs down the aisle and for your flowergirls.

If you do a manzanita tree, you could probably hang them from there too.

Oh my god, I love it! And it looks like it would have been WAY faster than all the tissue paper flowers I did!

Wow, they are so pretty! Great job. I was hesitant to add another DIY project to the long list that I already have…but I think these will have to be added now… they are just too cute to pass up. :)

Gorgeous. I’m also making pomanders, but with fabric. I like the ribbons, very colorful! We bought sheppard’s hooks to place along the aisle to hang the pomanders…

I started with a ribbon pomander and a fabric pomander and the fabric pomander looked best at first but then it sat around for a week and looks flattened and sad. I’d go back to the ribbon pomanders, but I realize I have nowhere to put them. My ceremony chairs aren’t drapable. I wonder if I could find a place for ribbon pomanders again in the end.

Ah ha ha ha! I love that you made it and have no idea what to do with it! It’s really cute, though! I think they would be super cute hanging from the aisles.

Nice job Pencils!! I think you should wear it on your wrist like a corsage. No? Hm… Perhaps hang them from the ceiling? Clearly I’m thinking logically today. :)
