Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

Color Crisis

February 21st, 2010 @ 2:15 pm by Mrs. Argyle

Recently, I fell in love with gray and yellow. I always loved those two colors together, but really had my heart set on “Garnet, Tangerine and Chocolate” for the wedding colors. Don’t get me wrong, I just had a moment of “Ooo, these colors could be fun and modern!”

And, to give you a taste of the gloriousness that is gray and yellow, here you go:

Thanks to Miss Joey for this inspiration. I just love the yellow envelopes!

A shout out to the lovely Dallas Brides Something Blue blog for this one! I just love the contrast.

I think the guys would look great in gray suits, but with pops of yellow (tie/bow-tie, socks, etc.). AND, I already purchased that J.Crew gray dress on the top left (LOVES it) to wear to a wedding.

I tried to do a bit of convincing with Mr. Argyle, but I was getting some negative feedback. Don’t get me wrong, I love our ideas for making the reds and oranges really pop. Plus, I bought those GORGEOUS Kate Spades that I am beyond excited about. I could not possibly change my mind now (although I would obviously wear those shoes anyway).

Did any of you waver between colors and have a hard time choosing?

My “other wedding” the one in spring, not winter, would have had yellow and grey as the main colors. It is fun to think of the what if’s sometimes.

I totally understand! Like Carbon Girl, my “other wedding” is rustic red and kraft.. unlike my “real wedding” which is romantic pink and green.

I decided to use my “other wedding” ideas for my rehearsal dinner! Can you fulfill your yellow and gray dreams at your rehearsal dinner, or bridal shower?

I have a continued love affair with yellow and gray. Originally, our color palette was black, white, and process cyan. Then I went all bonkers, and now it’s rainbow. :p

My colors are gray and yellow and I LOVE them! My “other wedding” would be red and turquoise though - love that combo!

I hear you! After I had picked my colours based on the fact that my original choices were unlikely to work well together, I found some inspiration boards that showed that they could! I think we just need to realize there are many many awesome combinations, and just go with one.

Thanks for showing us grey & yellow!

LOVE these colors together and wear them all the time… but for some reason, I never thought of using gray in the wedding palette! If only I’d discovered wedding blogs sooner. ;)

I love that color combo Miss Argyle and think grey and yellow does pop.

Our colors are just fun summery colors and I’m glad we’re using a grassy green and a coral/pink color!

Originally I was going with pink, aqua and black as a base color, but our new colorscheme is really reflective of us and the time of year and place.

I love this color combo! We’re still deciding on a palette, but this is definitely a contender.

Very pretty. Saw one somewhere that was grey and hot pink… LOVE. Don’t think my fiance loves pink, so I avoided - but the muted grey and the bright pop of pink (really more of a fuscia) was pretty amazing. I think yellow does the same thing.

We changed our colors half way thru the planning, and if stuff wasn’t already ordered, I’d probably change them again. We started with Watermelon, Cherry & Orange. But everything was really starting to be red - and it wasn’t what I wanted. So we switched, and really focused on black and white, now with just a touch of green… but like I said, I’d love to change it again.. is that bad? I love color.

I’d always talked about having a fall wedding colors- with rich yellows, oranges, reds, and browns. But after FI and I decided to change our wedding to the spring, I thought about pink and green, but after falling in love with a tie on etsy, we finally decided on navy and coral.

I couldn’t reign myself in colors-wise, so now we’re having our “main” colors as peach and pale aqua, but certain areas of the reception will have other colors that look great together, too, like the bar area will have poppy and aqua, and the candy buffet pink, brown and aqua.

I change ALL THE TIME! Everyone was really suprised when I chose grey as a wedding color because everything I own is neon! My thinking was I could just use grey as the main color and then just have a rainbow of accent colors! (I love, LOVE, LOVE color!)

In the beginnign I wavered alll the time. But thank goodness I’ve settled down a bit. I have to keep reminding me that our wedding won’t be the last event I ever plan. It’s tough though.

@Carbon Girl, @Jamielee: I love that you two are calling them your “other wedding.” Too funny!

@Miss Scissors: I love your rainbow of colors - fun and bold!!

@Miss Spaniel: I catch myself wearing it more and more now, haha.

@EMARILU: Good thinking using your “other” colors for your rehearsal and showers!

@Miss Hot Wings: So true! We still have a ton of events left in this lifetime!

@Miss Pencils: Thanks, lady!

I keep changing my mind too. FFI really wants red, I really want pale green and gold. We sort of comprimised on red and gold, but now I think thats too christmassy and our wedding will be in spring (November). And then one of the bees posted about her love of champagne pink dresses, and I fell in love with that colour and now I want Champagne pink, gold and pale green for the wedding.

*sigh*Maybe if I let FFI name our first born whatever he wants I can choose colours.

Our April 2011 wedding will have a yellow & gray color scheme. I’ve gotten some funny reactions to the palette from my fiance, fam, & friends - that is..until I showed them the inspiration board I designed. They are now SOLD & even commended me on my creativity. Happy Panda!
