About Mrs. Pudding

Continued Hairapy

February 21st, 2010 @ 12:30 pm by Mrs. Pudding

In my last post, I talked about the inspiration behind my first hair trial. I went into the appointment determined to communicate my vision to the stylist, and even though I was more vocal than usual, I found that I didn’t get exactly what I wanted. As a reminder, here is what I was going for:

And here is what I got:

Hmm… it wasn’t bad, but Mrs. Cherry Pie, I was not. It looked nice and all, but it just wasn’t what I asked for. Despite the fact that Mama Pudding liked it a lot (and she does not “like” easily), I think that I need to take a little bit more time to explain exactly what I like about the Cherry Pie hair style for our next trial. I mean, looking at a picture for 30 seconds cannot possibly be enough for my stylist to understand what I am going for. Sister Pudding is definitely coming to my next hair trial - she is going to be my personal hair translator. :P

I do have to say one thing for this hairstyle though: it held up ALL night! I took the train from Toronto to Montreal right after the trial, and than Mr. Pudding and I drove from Montreal to Vermont. After the seven hour journey (which included a couple of cat naps), my hair still looked pretty much perfect. Take a look for yourself:

Perhaps I should re-evaluate? What do you think? Did your first hair trial go as expected?

It’s not a Cherry Pie replica, but it does look fantastic!

I actually really like it! And I can’t believe it held up so well. My wedding hair stayed really well, but it still didn’t look that good after a whole day!

I really like it! Plus, it held up well- something good you can tell your stylist next time if you choose to correct/change the style.

I think it looks lovely, but yes it is not as tightly woven as Ms. Cherry Pie’s. It seems more like curls that have been pinned up than the weaving of Ms. Cherry Pie’s. Lovely, but different.

I like it better, but it’s your hair.

I think it looks great! Mrs. Cherry Pie’s hair texture seems naturally finer/straighter and maybe not as thick, so that may also account for some of the difference.

I like it a lot too, but I totally understand wanting to get what you asked for! I’m getting ready for hair trial number 2 next week.

It looks great but I understand how it wasn’t what you asked for. Bringing in a hair-translator sounds like a good idea!

I like it - but I definitely understand that it’s not what you wanted. Hopefully your sister can help!

It does look very cute, but definitely not what you asked for!

I don’t think it’s even close to what you asked for. I would call the salon and express your disappointment with the first trial and see if they will give you a discount for the second trial.

Miss Pudding - I will let you in on my most well-kept secret: Andrea Harrison! She is AMAZING, and works between Toronto and Montreal. Check out her facebook page. I will not let anyone else touch my hair except for her - I’ve had people cross busy streets to ask me who my stylist is!

Maybe it’s a hair texture thing? Mrs Cherry Pie looks to have more straight, smooth hair, while your hair has more body and texture? It kinda looks more like a messy bun though, but… like a messy bun with class? hahah. I’m sure it’d look different with your dress and make up and all! I like it though! :]

It does look really great, even if it’s not exactly what you were looking for. People are going to notice the front of your hair more than the back, though… are you happy with that part?

That is amazing! I think it’s beautiful and along the same style-wise as Cherry Pie. What’s even more incredibly is how perfectly it stayed in place. Impressive!!

If it is was me, I’d be disappointed because it looks so different from your inspiration picture! But since the style itself held up (which is
SO important!) I’d try the same stylist again. I had one trial and all I figured out was that I won’t be using that stylist! Good luck.

I know it looks nothing like you asked for, but I still think it looks beautiful on you. :) Keep trial-ing though to get what you want!

Hmmm, yeah, not the same at all. Looks a little bit like mine actually (which I had my aunt do and was rather unhappy with in the end). Don’t settle! Both my sister and I are the silly kind of newlyweds who have wedding day hair regret and we wish we could go back and do things differently. :)
