About Mrs. Lace

Ve-NEW

I’ll be honest. I don’t really want to share this information. You know, some awesome find that is super impressive, you don’t want to give it away? Well, that’s my venue. Mr. Lace and I watched a show called Blast! here for our first Valentine’s day. We went outside during intermission to take a photo in front. We fell in love, right then, right there. So naturally, when we got engaged and began thinking of a venue for the wedding, this place popped into our heads. We wanted to pick a place that was different and new (at least to our friends). You see, every time I go to a wedding, there are anywhere from 300-1,000 guests, so our typical venues have pretty much been played out. The new string of brides at my church are all getting married between May and July of 2010. I’m smack dab in the middle of the slew of weddings, so Mr. Lace and I really wanted to pick a place that was fresh, NEW and different.

We did a LOT of searching on the Internet. I checked out Here Comes the Guide, Wedding Wire, Gathering Guide, Eventective, just to name a few. I even did a search on Google Maps. After that, I checked out each venue against Yelp.

So, after a TON of searching, we really narrowed down our search to two spots. Our second choice was the Cerritos Performing Arts Center.

We were huge fans of the inside, but not so much the outside.

We weighed the options. Does the outside really matter? After our guests go inside, they won’t remember the outside anymore. Plus, we’d have great food with Patina Catering Group.

We decided to check out our first choice, the place we first fell in love with when we went to watch Blast! Swoon - The Orange County Performing Arts Center.

We were just as impressed with the inside of the OCPAC…

…as we were with the outside.

The representative said they’d only had 12 weddings here in the past year. They had just recently begun opening it up to have weddings. Fresh? Check! Different? Check! NEW? Check!

After we took the tour with the representative from OCPAC, we stood outside discussing how we felt and while we walked to the parking lot, we called her to send us the contracts. It was probably the fastest decision we made.

Did you find your venue quickly or did it take a long time to narrow your choices down to one?

This place is GORGEOUS! Really, both places are, but definitely a perfect pick. I am also getting married at a Theatre/Performing Arts Center. I think those spaces are really unique if you are going for something away from the traditional wedding venue. Can’t wait to see more.

That place is awesome! We looked at 3 places and REALLY wanted all three, but settled on one that really fit our style for the wedding.

That place is really beautiful! Our venue search felt like it took an eternity, although in reality it was only about 3 weeks. We struggled with deciding on a location - the city where we live, or somewhere at the beach which is about 3 hours away. We ended up with neither. Instead, we’re getting married in a city about 2 hours a way and no where near the beach. BUT, the venue is awesome and affordable. It’s an old federal building and we’ll be getting married in an historic courtroom upstairs. George CLooney’s “Leatherheads” was partly filmed here. :)

It took us a few months because we scoped out every venue in the tri-state area :) You would think that in NY it’s super easy to find a great venue BUT we are on a budget and wanted an outdoor ceremony. This forced us to look all around NY, NJ and Long Island until we finally found THE ONE.

Wow that venue is absolutely incredible!! It reminds me of the venue that Mrs. Bee’s friend had her wedding at with the circular seating. She blogged it awhile back but the aesthetic was very similar.
