I’m not sure about the rest of you, but having a complete strange assess your… assets isn’t exactly my activity of choice. However, for wedding-day purposes, I was willing to make the sacrifice. I’m talking about professionals of course, and the task at hand? Getting the perfect undergarments. Like several other bees out there, I made a bee-line for Bra*Tenders.

The store is tucked away in an office building, and you must make an appointment. The consultants there are experts - one look at me and my consultant (Cristal) found the perfect everyday bra for me - it turns out I needed to go a number size down and a cup size up. Bra-vissimo - much better fit!
Bra*Tenders works mostly with Broadway actors but is great at finding the perfect undergarments for your wedding day. I showed Cristal two pictures of my dress, and she found the perfect combination of garments that would smooth any bumps and put “the best me” forward. Here’s what she put together for me:

For those in the NYC area or planning a visit, I’d definitely recommend paying Bra*Tenders a visit. The individualized attention and expertise is awesome, and you’ll walk away both feeling and looking better.

Oh my good gracious, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a store like that!
Under my dress, I’m not allowed to wear a bra (???), and there’s no way to detect any underpants, so I’ll probably rock a ridiculously-printed cotton v-string VS Pink thingy.
Sigh! Another item on my to do list and have no clue how to go about it. My wedding boutique wants to sell me all this stuff at a total markup. So I said I’d look elsewhere. Too bad I won’t have a chance to go to NY between now and June!
I’m just wearing a strapless bra and probably silly boy shorts.
That store looks magical. NYC gets everything good, bah.
I just had a bra sewn into my dress, but I really need to go get fitted at a place like this one of these days since I’m sure I’m wearing the wrong bra size.
I am planning a trip up there in April, to visit my MOH. Are their prices reasonable?
luckily my undies are minimal-no bra and a thong. lol.
i was going to wear a bustier but sadly, the dress wouldn’t zip up when i wore it. bummer. i may have to get that sexy spanx, though.
also, i’ve heard that one of the most common mistakes for women is to wear a cup size too small and a number size too large!

Wish I could hit up that store, how amazing to find the perfect every day bra! Mine never seem to fit right…
I saw Cristal at Bratenders, too, and I loved her! She was so great I even allowed her to upsell me an every day bra, and it is by far the best bra I own. Plus they have magazines and candy in the waiting area. What’s better?
Ugh…I need to figure this out. My dress has an inner corset thingy…but doesn’t give me much support? I have no idea. I wish there were a Bra Tenders close to me!
It seems like everyone goes too big on the band and too small on the cup! We should all get measured!
@MissMichele: They will work within your budget, but as much as possible, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. They do such a good job, it is worth it. But no, they’re not going to try to trick you into buying a $300 bra or anything like that.

OMG, I really need to get on this. I totally need some assistance in the lingerie department. We don’t have that store here, but I am going to a real lingerie store to get fitted - I need assistance for my “pebbles” too. I was also thinking about picking up some Spanx - I hear they are so great

Im not wearing a bra with my dress! Im having padded cups sewn into the dress!!! As far as unders…Ill probably find blue lacy ones for my something blue and then I will definitely be visiting a shop like the one you went to for my wedding night and honeymoon lingerie!
I really could use a place like that here in Colorado. I have big boobies and it’s a pain in the butt to find something to keep them where they belong.
Love me some Bra Tenders! Since I am a costume designer I go there a lot and they have always been so lovely to me! They know their stuff! Highly recommend them!

@MissMichele: I agree with jmc - the prices aren’t super-inexpensive, but for what you get (a really great fit) I think it’s worth it!
