These days it seems as though brides and grooms are opting for something a little bit different for their cake. Long gone are the traditional cake toppers featuring the bride and groom in static poses.
As weddings become less and less about “old tradition” and more and more about the bride and groom, the nearlyweds are picking fun cake toppers like the ones below, most of which are great Etsy finds, as usual! Etsy never disappoints!
This couple topper is just adorable and simple. It’s a perfect fit for a retro wedding.
These little birds are just too cute for words. If this fit with the feel of the wedding, these would so fun. They are such a big hit with a lot of brides.
Another big hit are monogrammed or initialed cake toppers like the one below. It’s a more modern way of adorning the cake, rather than with little figurines.
We more than likely will not have a cake topper, as we are hoping to play off of the feel of our invites. BUT if we had other ideas in mind, any of the cake toppers above would be so cute.
How will you be topping your cake? Or are you going traditional with an array of real or sugar flowers?
I really, reeeaally want a topper from Lollipop Workshop, but their etsy shop has been down for a while. I’m hoping they’ll come back soon!
We used my grandparents’ cake topper from 60 years earlier. It was also a way to remember my grandpa. It was old and small on top of the cake, but I loved it.
FMIL bought me a cake topper that’s “old fashioned”. It’s very sweet!
Talk about retro… we will be using my parents’ cake topper from 1968. It’s adorable! : )
We’re big mountain bikers, and we found this cake topper at REI that fits our personalities perfectly! We definitely went for fun and “us”.
We’re getting custom clay cake toppers made by lynnslittlecreations on Etsy. I’m so excited - mostly because our puppy will be included!)
We had an art glass pumpkin as our cake topper. Our wedding was on Halloween. The rest of the cake had mini pumpkins, acrons and leaves embellishing it.
We’re doing it without a cake topper like you guys. We’ll just have some flowers on our cake.
We bought a clay animal one from etsy and I’m SO in love with it! It’s super cute!

I’m on the fence. It’ll either be real flowers or birds that could double as Christmas tree ornaments. I need to give this more though.
We are using flowers on our cake, like @Miss Frozen Yogurt. Yay for more ways not to spend $$! 
I love cake toppers and didnt stop searching until I found the perfect one! It was important to me and to both of us to have one…its one of those all white, no faces ones…its beautiful. The Circle of Love I think its called.
I really love those wooden ones, but wondering if I should try something a bit new and different.
Real flowers for us, I’m not into cake toppers. Does anyone recall which bee(s) used those little wooden Etsy peg toppers? I know they are very familiar.
Our cake is going to have replicas of my FI and I in kayaks on the water. Can you tell we are having a fun cake and a talented, affordable baker?
at first we weren’t going to do anything (not even flowers), but i’m getting a surprise cake topper for mr. pug as a gift. boy he will be sooo excited.
