About Mrs. Pencils

So I bit the bullet and did it. Envelope liners, I mean. I was stuck in the house for about ten days solid, and had to do something! First I read many other bees’ adventures with this same thing. Then I got to work.

Here’s where I ended up, inside and out, as tease:

One major hold up occurred during my envelope excursion. The Pencils’ envelopes were not your average envelopes, with available liners. Ohh, no, that’d be too easy. I made my own, after a bit of trial and error.

I bought 200 brown bag Kraft 100% recycled envelopes here. Mine are the Number 10 square flap, and cost 10 dollars for 100—sweet deal, me thinks!

First, I made the template with cardstock and traced it onto green cardstock.

I used a variety of greens and yellows and cut them out one by one. Yes, it’s true. I didn’t let Mr. Pencils cut them out until the very end—my self induced perfectionism and anal retentiveness worked against me.

I pasted each one:

Who needs a bone folder? I used a dinner knife:

I think it worked just as well!

Many, many, many hours later, I had 120 lined, recycled paper kraft envelopes ready to be stuffed with plantable invites:

What is a detail around your wedding that took.a.million.hours?

I love those envelopes. I want to use either kraft paper envelopes or the grocery bag kind. Very cute! I can’t believe you made that many. Crazy woman! I have a feeling my invites will take a long time—working on the s-t-d’s right now.

My save-the-dates are currently taking a million hours. But if they turn out as well as your liners did, I’m a happy girl!

Ooh thanks for the kraft paper tip. I’ve been researching and looking for a good spot to find these.

Ooh, I like that you used a bunch of different colors! We’ll end up having two different liner papers too, but only because I apparently can’t do math :)

I heart envelope liners. They make such a difference in how the invitation pops visually.

They look great, and I love the knife instead of a bone folder! I’ve been using a lighter instead of a bone folder!

I wish I would have thought of liners!! My invites, inserts and envelopes are all white… I thought it was classic… now I’m thinking BORING not classic. :(

Ooh! Love the colors! Too bad you can’t send each person multiple invites so they can see the whole effect, huh? :)

these turned out really nice, I love the different colors, for me the project taking up most of my DIY time are my tissue paper pomanders, none of the tutorials really say how long they take to make, feels like forever
