For a while my mom would call me and say things like, “I can’t sleep at night, thinking about getting your dress altered.” She was very, very worried. (She worries a lot.)
She was anxious about:
I wasn’t terribly at all concerned about any of these things, but I didn’t want to keep my mom up at night, counting silk-sheathed sheep to sleep.
So we made an appointment at a small tailor shop a couple weeks ago.
The tailor fixed my dress in a week. Sorry, that was a lot of lead-up for very little return. Can I make it up to you with a goofy self-portrait?
It’d been a while since I tried on my dress and it looked totally different when the length actually ended at my feet!
I had sorta forgotten that my dress has a wee train. I love the bustle (which is a simple, single snap hidden in the fabric). The bustle is good for shimmying. I tried.

Woo-hoo, dress complete! The tears are stitched up, the straps stay in place, the hemline is just right…and, most importantly, MamaP can get her 40 winks!
Were you worried about dress alterations? Or was the alteration process smooth sailing?
