Mrs. Cola, Mountain View, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Product Communications and Promotions Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Managing Partner and Senior Designer Engagement Date: March 5, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: The Mountain Terrace, Woodside, CA About Me: I’m a Washington State native, enjoying life in Silicon Valley California with my fiancé, our three kitties and one leopard gecko. I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.

You Had Me at “Carbon Fiber”

February 24th, 2010 @ 1:33 pm by Mrs. Cola

As I mentioned a week or so ago, Mr. Cola actually got his wedding band before I got mine. And you’ve already seen it; he ended up getting the one from my ring inspiration post, the $99 BOMANI Tungsten Carbide Carbon Fiber Ring. He really liked it (well, as much as he was going to like any piece of jewelry) because of the fact that it has carbon fiber in it, which apparently is “really cool.”

So we decided to order it, since there was only a small restocking fee if he didn’t like it. But he did, and so he never had to step foot in a jewelry store, much to his relief.

And here it is; he wore it all evening the night it came in the mail to get a little used to it.

I’m so looking forward to the day he’ll wear it forever, since I really love the meaning behind wearing wedding bands.

Does your guy have his wedding band yet? How did he pick it out?

I like that ring a lot, and like you, I think my FI will look so HOT with his ring. I feel silly saying that, but I will love it on him.

I ended up going with titanium, and my guy ended up going with black tungsten. I catch him trying his on every now and then, which makes me giggle that he obviously likes it so much. :D

Mine just got his yesterday!! I loooove it. I was so thrilled I caught it while it was actually in stock. It’s an Edward Mirell from Zales, has two blue lines around it which is so perfect because our wedding colors are blue and green. Blue is his favorite color, mine is green. And my ring has an emerald. It all just goes and makes me happy :)

Awesome ring! My FI wanted the plainer, the better. So although we went to a couple of jewelry counters (without too much prodding) he only wanted to try on the plain comfort fit bands. And in the end that’s the kind he got - in white gold. Which is fine by me, as long as he likes it. And yes, there’s something very sexy about a man wearing a wedding band!

we went to a jewelry store to look at bands for him. he hated everything he saw there. we ended up ordering it online from the same woman who made my engagement ring! my fiance hasn’t quite gotten used to the idea of wearing a ring yet, he thinks that they are annoying. luckily, his friend (who’s married) told him that he’ll get used to it. lol.

I think my hubby’s ring is the same brand (same box anyways). Very affordable rings! Got it though the AAFES catalog (military store); paid $120.

Your FI and my FI should hang out. My FI picked out the same exact ring from the same site. He loves it. And also thinks carbon fiber is “really cool” :)

Mr. Cola’s ring looks great! Mr. GP wore his ring all night when his was delivered, too :D … and the next night… I had to hide it from him! I agree though - he looked so HOT with his ring on!

Since I have access to a machine shop, my FI really wants me to make his. So right now I have a chunk of round titanium that will eventually become his ring. :-)

Its a great ring but just a word of warning (my fiance has the same one that I got him last year)…tungsten doesn’t scratch but the carbon fiber definitely does. Typically tungsten rings are awesome because you can seriously do anything to them and they will still be in mint condition, but after only about 8 months or so of him wearing the ring, the carbon fiber is one scratched up, foggy looking mess. So just make sure to be careful with it!
