Cupcakes… MMMM

February 25th, 2010 @ 10:32 am by Mrs. Hot Dog

So, in case you haven’t heard me shouting joyously from the rooftops, my little sister is ENGAGED! And she made me her maid of honor! This means I got to do all the fun bridal shower planning and help out with her wedding. Good practice for mine, no? :)

Now, on to the goodies… I love me some food! Especially baked goods. And, OK, I may have an unnatural obsession with cupcakes. Not only are they dee-lish, but they are also aesthetically pleasing. Double whammy! Needless to say I will be including these little guys in the food choices. The spread is going to be pretty simple. Just some finger sandwiches, a cheese-meat-cracker tray, chips-and-dip, and the cuppy-cakes. NOM NOM.

Grandma is taking care of the cheesy-meaty delights, mom is making the chip dip, and I’m responsible for the cupcakes and sandwiches. I’ll probably end up just ordering a big sub from Subway. But the cupcakes… Now those need to be something special. Something like this:

Or this:

Cupcakes... MMMM : wedding cake 426208987 96219fc2e9 426208987_96219fc2e9

source

Or maybe even this:

I think those are all pretty do-able… The bow design may pose a problem. I wonder where I can get sugar bows? Anywhere? I’m sure they must be somewhere, at least on the interwebs…

Which design do you like best? Do you have a better idea? Let me hear it!

Awesome you and your sister get to enjoy being engaged and wedding planning together! Whose wedding is first?

I love the 2nd pictures with the daisies interspersed throughout the cupcakes…so much deliciousness! I want!

I really like the ones in the second pic, but I’m sure any of them would be just fine!

Congrats to your sister! If I were you, I’d make the bows out of white chocolate using a bow shaped candy mold like this one http://www.countrykitchensa.com/catalog/product.aspx?T=1&productId=616252

That way you get the pretty look, but without driving yourself nuts piping all of them, and you know they’ll be tasty. Sometimes the preformed sugar pieces have a weird taste, to me. Good luck!

I think you can make the bows using white decorators icing. Make them on parchment paper, then put in freezer, place onto the cupcakes once they’re stiff. Super cute!

The third one is my fave. I think the black cupcake paper really sets them apart :)

I love them all! You’re making me crave some major sugar right now. =) I think the ones in #3 would be so lovely for a shower.

The bows could be super easily made out of fondant! It’s much easier to use than you’d think. GL!

I just want to say that I have only recently discovered the joys and wonder and magic that are cupcakes. I was a skeptic, a naysayer, even… and then I tried my first red velvet cupcake from my favorite bakery (they’re doing my wedding CAKE, and I regularly fatten up on their muffins), and now I’m a believer. :)

Go cuppy-cakes!

I LOVE the blue ones with the bows. I think it may be the fact that they resemble Tiffany’s boxes. :)
