Wedding Related Dreams

I know that I can’t be the only one out there… right?

It is my wedding day. For some reason, it is nighttime, and everyone is getting ready for the event at a large mansion by the beach. I walk down a hallway to where Mr. Buttons and his groomsmen are getting changed, and am horrified with what I see!

The guys are all clad in bright blue and apple green plaid jackets, blue pants, and their boutonnieres are simply a singular leaf pinned to their lapel. The horror!!! They looked ridiculous. Mr. Buttons doesn’t seem to think that anything is wrong, but I shift into panic mode and instantly grab my phone. I frantically call the suit rental place and lay into them for delivering us clown suits!

The suit place apparently doesn’t have any replacements, so I make the boys take their coats off to salvage the look.

Then, I realize that I didn’t remember to order flowers for the bridesmaids or myself… I begin crying.

And then… I start to wonder where my photographer is… shouldn’t I be getting ready at this point? I walk down to the kitchen to investigate. He isn’t there. I suddenly realize that in my stupidity, I forgot to give him directions! So, I pick up the phone and begin to dial the photog’s number. My dad walks in to the room and stops me. Apparently he doesn’t want me to give out the directions, and takes the phone away from me. I yell at him and then storm off to another room to take a shower and get ready.

Except… I never got my dress altered. It is about 2 feet too long, and it is so wide that it falls right off of me. And, for some reason, my hairdresser went MIA, and she never showed up. I turn to the mirror and see myself standing there… in a dress about 4 sizes too big, with dripping wet hair and no makeup…

… and then I woke up. Thank goodness!

At first, I just laughed at my crazy brain/unconscious mind… and then the dreams continued to happen. There have been 3 now!

I’ll spare the nitty gritty details of the dreams that followed, but they seem to all have an overarching theme; for some reason I keep dreaming that I haven’t managed to finish all of my planning, or that I forget some important details involved! Eek!

For those of you who don’t know, I majored in Psychology… don’t get me started with dream interpretation! I could be Freudian and go into the latent meaning of the dreams (what you would essentially look up in a “dream dictionary”), but I honestly don’t believe that those serve much purpose. If you look up what seeing a U.S. Mail Box in your dream means… apparently it signifies that you are going to be involved in some illegal activity. What?!?! Who makes this stuff up? In the end, in my opinion I tend to think that my unconscious mind is nagging at me to make sure I get things accomplished. There is such a long to-do list involved with wedding plans, and I know that I’ve been fretting over whether or not I’ll get things done on time! Hopefully, these dreams will dissipate as time goes by…

Have you had any bizarre wedding related dreams?

Oh yeah, I’ve had some doozies…Mostly along the same lines as you, although my favorite was where I kept falling asleep during the ceremony and felt like I missed the whole thing!

I usually dream that its my wedding day, I don’t have anyone to do my hair, the photographer doesn’t show up, and I forgot to hire an officiant. I’ve had the same dream now about 3-4 times, and I always wake up stressed out from it! the funny thing is, Ive noticed I have these dreams on Thursday nights (we are getting married on a Friday). And my wedding’s not until October! I don’t feel stressed, but apparently my dreams are telling me I am!

I’ve had a lot too! Last night a guest threw mimosa on my dress as I walked down the aisle. YIKES! How do we come up with this stuff? Luckily, I’ve also started having happy wedding dreams - fingers crossed those are the ones that come true :)

Mr. Nachos and I both have been having weird wedding nightmares! I think it’s just the anxiety of the big day coming up and not really knowing how it’s all going to fall into place. You’re definitely not alone!

Mine are always some variation on the same theme: all of the sudden it’s the day of the wedding (even though no time has passed since the present) and I haven’t completed any more tasks than I have to date. I haven’t had my dress altered, I have no one to do my hair (so I just pull it up in a ponytail!) and I’m not wearing any makeup. Oh, and usually there’s also some mishap which causes EVERYONE to see me in my dress before the ceremony.

The most recent one I had was earlier this week. It saw me going through all the same trials as noted above, but I also discovered that I hadn’t made any ceremony programs. I started sobbing and RAN to Michael’s in hopes of finding supplies and making programs in the 10 minutes I had before the ceremony began. Oh the stress!!

I’ve had my fair share of dreams . .err . . . nightmares. Maybe once a month at this point. And they’re allways like ellenmg-I forget to book vendors, or the vendors hate me and don’t show. One funny one though-I sat on the wedding cake in my dress!

YESSSS! I actually haven’t had them lately… but I had like 3 in one week a few months back. It was so horrible. In my dream…

I am asleep on the couch in what appears to be my parents basement. I’m in that weird in-between sleep and awake thing and I can hear my parents talking, but I am not fully aware of what the conversation pertains to. THEN, I realize that they are talking about the wedding that is to take place the NEXT day (and in my dream it’s really late at night). So I start freaking out because my dress is too long and my hair is in desparate need of a root touch up, not to mention that there’s a million things on my to-do list that need checking-off.

Anyways, in my dream my mom keeps telling me that “it’s going to be okay…” in an annoyingly soothing voice while trying to pin up the extra length on my dress into a make-shift bustle with some old broach. The more she tells me that everythings going to be ok… the more angry I become b/c I’m thinking “no! It’s not going to be ok! Why didn’t someone wake me up? Why were you guys just letting me sleep!”

Annnnd then I wake up, and I am SO relieved that it was only a dream. Sounds silly to read the dream in words…

Glad I’m not the only one with weird dreams!!

Oh my gosh, yes. Just had one last week that somehow I managed to get married without realizing that my parents weren’t there yet. They got there afterward and I was crushed. In that same dream, I had 2 dresses to pick from. One was a dead ringer for Belle’s yellow one in Beauty and the Beast and the other was a short, tight red one. I went with Belle’s. And about a month before that one, I had a dream that I married my ex-boyfriend instead of my fiance - ex-boyfriend is now gay in real life, so idk what that was all about. I just know I was really upset and didn’t want the wedding to be happening in the dream….weird!!

The 3 dreams that I have had always consist of me sleeping in and not having time to get ready, to shower, or do my hair & makeup. Then when it comes time to walk down the aisle, I am a greasy mess in my ill-fitting gown and realize that I have MAJOR armpit hair. We’re talking Boost Mobile commercial armpit hair: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iT89qfDx3yM
That’s when I start panicking and wake up with a major case of the HeBeGeBe’s! Everyone else in my dreams seem to be on the ball, calm, and ready though. I’ll have to remember to shave the day before though, just in case ;)

I have not had any wedding related dreams although fi and I have an ongoing joke about him wearing a clown costume to the wedding, These are the ideas I get when I ask for his input :) It’s all in good fun, he is very helpful when I need something. I’m sure the dreams will come as we get closer to our wedding date

With my luck…. They guys will wear what they want.. my dress would be too tight and the flowers will be delivered to a different location by mistake…. I hope it doesn’t happen!!! :(

All the time. Mine all center around plans being incomplete on the day of the wedding, with a very common theme that it’s time for me to walk down the aisle and my hair and makeup and nails aren’t done and in general my appearance is a mess but it’s time to go do this thing or else.

I was irritated about all these dreams, especially given that I barely ever even remembered a single dream in my life until the last few months, until a few nights ago when I had an extremely vivid dream that a friend of mine died. After that, I’ll take wedding nightmares again please!
