I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

Pampering Your Guests

February 28th, 2010 @ 1:00 pm by Mrs. Argyle

I met with a friend who is getting married, and told me she really wanted to make sure the ladies’ restroom was made special with flower arrangements, candles, special lotions and amenities. Her reasoning? She does that at home. Her guest bathrooms are filled with goodies and treats to make her guests feel like they are at home away from home, and that they are taken care of. It’s just a minor detail, but especially for women, it can go a long way.

I know some venues offer the basics of something like this, but I really love the idea of making sure our guests feel appreciated in every single aspect of our wedding. Obviously, not all of (okay, most of) our guests will pay attention to these details, but someone will notice. It is just a small little element that won’t really add too much to our budget, but will definitely add a special touch. The list ranges from lotions, mints, tampons, hairspray.

Needless to say, I am brainstorming for some ideas to incorporate this idea into our wedding. What sort of little touches do you think guests would appreciate?

How about personalized (with Bride and Groom’s names or date of wedding or some such cutsey thing) chapsticks in the ladies room…I’m always losing or forgetting chapstick. And maybe combs for the mens room?

Bathroom baskets are fabulous! I’m going to do mints & other candies for men as well as a little cologne and maybe hairgel and a comb…haha I know my fiance will probably need a little reapplication of gel sometime during the evening!

For the women’s bathroom, I’ll have mints and candies as well, but some deodorant, perfume, a hairbrush, and hairspray! They’re always nice little touches, and for the people who end up needing that stuff, they’ll surely appreciate and remember it!

We’re doing this, for each restroom.. my mom has huge lists for each - tampons, pantyliners, combs, bobby pins, sewing kit, safety pins, clear nail polish, mints, gum, body spray, deodorant, lotion, etc. for the women. Men - deodorant, hairspray, combs, mints, few pairs of trouser socks, baby powder, etc. And in the women’s restroom we’ll have flower arrangements.

I think it’s a fun idea to include bathroom baskets! I’d definitely include mints/gum, maybe some hairspray!

How about adding a “Tide-to-go” stick in each basket for those little spills!

I am doing a small bathroom basket for each restroom. It was pretty easy to gather stuff either at home or in travel sizes for both. I’m doing:

tampons, pads, q-tips, nail files, mints, gum, tissues, body spray, lotion, deodorant, hair spray, those little disposable toothbrush/picks, advil, combs, and a bunch of single use toiletries from La Fresh.

I got it all on sale or just the cheapest ones (a cheap nail file is better than none, right?) and decorated the baskets with some ribbon and flowers. It wasn’t too expensive or hard! :)

I did a bathroom basket and people loved it. Shout Wipes and Tide to Go pens were big hits, as well as a little sewing kit.
I had a large basket of flip-flops in the ladies room and my friends still talk about how wonderful that was- and it’s been six months since I got married!

We’re doing bathroom baskets too! And I loved making them. I have compiled a huge checklist including the lowest prices I got from the stores I looked into. You can download them at http://www.ayleebits.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/bathbasketchklist.pdf. Unfortunately, the prices do add up.

I think they’re a great touch.

Don’t be afraid to delegate! When I was a MOH my best friend asked me to take care of them. I was more than happy to do it, and it was one less thing for her to worry about!

@suzieb1126: Tide sticks are a fabulous idea! I can’t even tell you how many times one of those suckers has saved my clothes!!

I really want to do this for my wedding too. I think you’ll need all the basics, but for perfume you could go to your local department store and pick up as many of those free little sample bottles as you can, then your guests can have a choice of what to apply.

don’t forget to include a few first aid things, bandaids, blister shields maybe? Just remember that if you are having any medicines, and you are having children at your wedding, to make sure they are well out of reach of little hands.

@laohm: Oh, hadn’t thought about a bunch of chapstick - good idea!

@suzieb1126, @Perk: Tide To-Go/Shout Wipes are a must! I have one with me everywhere as it is, so they will definitely be in the basket!

@Roux: Smart thinking with the fragrance samples!

i really do like the bathroom baskets, even if i never use them. or good quality paper-clothy towels, perhaps personalized with a monogram or something? or specialty liquid pump soap with a label that matches your invites?

I think bathroom baskets are one of those little ways to make your guests feel, as you said, comfortable and extra-welcome which they probably do actually notice more than we realize. I’ve read brides talking about how their guests were delighted by bathroom baskets. Kind of funny, for such a cheap, small detail relative to the rest of the wedding. You’ve got a lot of great ideas here, don’t forget some minty candies in addition to the basics and I think you’re set. For an outdoor wedding, bugspray might not be a bad idea just in case, and we will definitely be including a couple over-the-counter medications such as allergy relief, cold relief and pain relief.

Forgot to mention more embarrassing-but-crucial over the counter meds like Pepto Bismol, Gas-X, Immodium, etc. Rich delicious food can cause unexpected stomach aches, especially in conjunction with alcohol!

You could run a search for bathroom baskets. Many Bees have wrote about them in detail, providing many ideas.

We included bandaids, a mini sewing kit, a small bottle of Vaseline (useful for guests with ouchy shoes!) in addition to the usual bathroom supplies / medication. Sadly, the cleaning lady decided to dump our beautiful basket + supplies into the trash can. Urgghhhh!!!

@Miss Pug: Oh, love the custom paper towel idea!

@LittlestBirds: Those are all great things to include!

@mrspaetz: How sad that the cleaning ladies tossed them!

We are doing these as well. I just googled bathroom baskets and have made a huge list combining them all to my taste.
