Suit Up! (Part Dos)

February 28th, 2010 @ 2:35 pm by Mrs. French Fries

Like many other bees, we are foregoing the tuxedo rental and going with suits for Mr. French Fries and the men in our wedding party. Remember my love affair with Barney Stinson and Chuck Bass? Need a refresher?

Ahhh yes. Thank you, Gossip Girl. So, it had been decided: the fry guys would be wearing suits. When we originally made this decision, however, it was a tad too early to start looking for said suits. But a few weeks ago I got an email saying that Men’s Wearhouse was having a 50% off sale, so we decided to strike while the iron was hot.

What did we end up with?

Well, Mr. FF will be donning an awesome suit by Mr. Calvin Klein. This one, in fact:

A simple, classic two button with a hint of black on black pattern. Perfect. We had them order the suit coat to fit Mr. FF’s shoulders (as they are larger than his waist), and are going to have them alter the jacket in towards the waist a bit to make it more of a slim fit suit.

But what about the accoutrements? Well, we about ran ourselves ragged one Saturday at the mall looking for ties for Mr. FF and the groomsmen. The problem? I had it set in my mind that I wanted all of the ties to be coordinating, but not matching. An easy feat if you’re looking for 2, 4, or even 6 ties. But we were looking for 12 ties total! 1 for Mr. FF, 9 for the groomsmen, and 2 for the ushers. I was frustrated, but the Mr. suggested we look online. We stumbled upon The Tie Bar’s website, and Mr. FF promptly found a tie he really liked. We ended up going with the same ties for the groomsmen/ushers, since it was just easier that way. Plus, that way Mr. FF will really stand out with his patterned tie on w-day, which will look great.

So, Mr. FF will be wearing this tie:

And in lieu of a boutonniere, he’ll tuck this fuchsia pocket square into his jacket pocket (I know it looks purple-ish in the picture — but it’s fuchsia, rest assured).

The groomsmen will have the same fuchsia pocket squares as Mr. FF, but they will all be wearing this fuchsia herringbone tie:

So, that’s that! I think that all of the guys will look great, although I’m obviously partial to how Mr. FF will look (and I think he’s going to look awesome). I can’t wait to see it all come together on w-day!

Are your groomsmen all wearing matching suits/tuxes and ties, or did you decide to mix it up a bit?

I gave our GMs the option of buying a black suit or wearing their own, but they wanted tuxes! (They did look spiffy!) My husband owned a tux, so he wore that. My ushers wore a tie very similar to your FI’s, but in red & black. Trying to match all of the reds in the wedding was a real pain! I’m not particular, but we didn’t want clashing. “Fry guys” I love it!! (I have a love affair with Blair’s wardrobe-she’s a blond in reality!)

I so love the look of coordinating ties! Mr. Hottie, however, is huge. Seriously. 230 pounds dry, in the morning. Getting him a suit would cost us an arm and a leg.. Boo. Plus he’s a very cas’ guy.

ooo .. we were at Menswearhouse yesterday for suits!! that 50% off deal was great. My Mr. is also wearing Mr. Calvin Klein :) but his is a charcoal grey pinstripe and the groomsmen are in a solid carcoal grey. Love the ties!!

I’ll have to check out the tie bar.
