Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/VermontAge and Occupation: 26, High School TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer EngineerEngagement Date: August 2008Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall ReceptionAbout Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
Remember my beautiful engagement ring? Mr. Pudding worked so hard on getting me just the right bling, and he definitely succeeded. It’s the perfect mixture of my need for glamour (lots of diamonds, please!) and Mr. Pudding’s need for practicality (bezel setting, so it doesn’t snag). Need a reminder? Here it is:
When I showed you my ring for the first time, many of you wondered what my wedding band would look like. The ring has a unique shape (which I love), and it does present a bit of a conundrum. Initially, I was planning on getting something like this:
Mrs. Scissors, LaGrange, GAAge and Occupation: 25, Photography & Graphic DesignFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Engineering Grad StudentEngagement Date: January 1, 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!About Me: I’m a six-foot-three bride with a fifty-foot personality! I love great art, fabulous design, intense color, tons of music, indie photography, watching movies on repeat, and being really awesome. This super-tall, Southern, loud, quirky, neurotic artist is marrying a German, quiet, silly, super-amazing roboticist in an eclectic, funky, fun, snazzy, technicolored June wedding. Anything is game for this shindig, for it is all about us! We’re bringing giant paper cranes, six-foot-tall portraits, fortune cookies, a photo booth, a club-circuit DJ, handcuffs, and possibly a kidnapping to this small Southern town. Watch out, y’all, and try to keep up!
For our honeymoon, all I want to do is sit on my ass for a week, stuff my face, roll around in bed, and be in my comfort zone. I don’t want to worry about wasting money. I don’t want to be nervous because I’m in a new and unfamiliar place. I don’t want to feel guilty for not going sightseeing every day. I don’t want to deal with epic amounts of luggage, flights, taxis, butlers, rat-bastards, or anything of the like.
That is why we will be spending our honeymoon at my parents’ beach house in Seagrove Beach, Florida. Wedding in one house and then off to the other.
1. This house is where we first said, “I love you.”
2. This house is where we got engaged.
3. Four-hour drive from the big house. I’d like to hope that will be a four-hour nap for one of us. (And by one of us, I mean me. Mama di’n’t raise no fool.)
4. White sand beaches, Gulf of Mexico. Need I say more?
Mrs. Lamb, NorfolkAge and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security ConsultantFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate StudentEngagement Date: January 2009Wedding Date: January 2010Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera HouseAbout Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
I used to believe in “the one”, of the wedding dress variety. After shenanigans, heartbreak, and subsequent laughter (read about it here, here, here and here), I let go of the “the one”, and said, “Hello” to a beautiful dress that served me well. I was not in love with my dress, but wearing it on my wedding day, and now looking back at photographs, I realize that she was the right dress for me.
Mrs. Green Tea, SacramentoAge and Occupation: 30, Tea AnalystFiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Coffee CriticEngagement Date: November 17, 2006Wedding Date: August 23, 2008Blogging Since: June 10, 2008Venue: Vineyard on the DeltaAbout Me: I'm just your average obsessive compulsive, arts & crafts loving, funky-on-the-inside/boring-on-the-outside girl, who dares to say 'Hey! I can make that!' Nerdy professional by day, goofy won-ton by night. The won-ton sometimes comes out during the day when I'm fed the dollar breakfast at Ikea. Since our engagement, wedding planning has put me on high alert for bargains and I've been pushing my nimble fingers through callous building experiments!
Like last year, I made little packages to send out as valentines. This year each box is built based on lyrics from this beautiful song (press play):
Since the very first time I heard it, I had wanted to ’put the stars right in a jar and give them all to…’ ehh… somebody, ANYBODY! Valentine’s day finally came around and gave me an excuse to do this without creeping people out:

Happy Monday hive! Meet our newest pattern bee, coming to us straight from the Midwest! Say hello to Miss Argyle!
Miss Argyle, St. Louis
Age & Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance’s Age & Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I’m a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

Mrs. Trail Mix, New YorkAge and Occupation: 26, PE TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, MBA StudentEngagement Date: March 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Tannery Pond at the Darrow SchoolAbout Me: I'm a country girl who somehow found herself living in the Big Apple and loving every minute of it. I'm planning a rustic, country-chic wedding in my hometown in upstate New York and it's going to be a Party with a capital P. White wine, flea markets and running keep me happy and my friends, family and fiance are my world. I'm a little bit crafty, a little bit crazy but mostly just crazy in love.
Based on some feedback from other posts, I thought I might offer up some tips for anyone looking to start running on a regular basis. (A semi-regular basis is cool too! Anything is better than nothing! )
First off, you need decent running shoes. NOT the old pair of New Balances you’ve had for four years that you also wear to run errands and do yard work. I’m talking about a pair of sneakers that fit you well, feel comfortable, offers you some sort of support and/or cushioning and that you only use for running or working out. I know this is somewhat of an investment but you’ll thank me for this advice later, I promise.
Mrs. Sewing, San Mateo, CA/Honolulu, HIAge and Occupation: 24, Electrical EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical EngineerEngagement Date: June 27, 2009Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Anela Garden Chapel & Japanese Cultural Center, HonoluluAbout Me: I'm an easily entertained, compulsive idea-scheming machine who loves good art, good food, and a good engineering challenge. I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!
Oh, distant cities and foreign lands that Mr. Sewing and I have spent many, many days exploring and living in. Read more…
Mrs. Buttons, Clearwater, FLAge and Occupation: 24, "Working on it"Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Financial ServicesEngagement Date: June 13, 2009Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: Carlouel Yacht ClubAbout Me: I'm a self proclaimed perfectionist and a professional nomad (seriously, I've lived in TX, WI, MI, FL, NC, and now VA!). I love wine, cooking, curling up with a good book (nerd alert!), spoiling the furbaby, and of course, the wonderful Mr. Buttons! We are planning a lighthearted and whimsical wedding (with a good deal of DIY projects) in Clearwater, Florida, but from a distance of 800 miles away! We are looking forward to sharing our day with our family and friends, and most importantly, starting our lives together as husband and wife!
Hello everyone. My name is Miss Buttons, and I am a shop-aholic.
If I had my way, I would never repeat an outfit. I like trying new styles, and the satisfying feeling that you get when wearing a brand new piece of clothing is just the bees-knees (haha, see what I did there?). Seriously, they call it retail therapy for a REASON, people…
Now, I am a rational, sensible person when it comes to spending (at least, I like to think so). Read more…
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San DiegoAge and Occupation: 28, ProfessorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, InstructorEngagement Date: December 20, 2008Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood RestaurantAbout Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
I just saw this on planning… forever events blog and am stunned that this happened! And indeed, I agree with them that having professional bartenders that know when to cut off the drunk people is important, lest this happens.
For a good laugh (or gasp), check out thesetwo threads on the boards.
Now I’m curious: do you have any drunken wedding guest stories to share?

Mrs. Guinea Pig, Baltimore, MD Age and Occupation: 26, PhD student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Operations Director at a non-profit Engagement Date: December 25, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club About Me: I'm a tomboy science nerd whose girly side has made a startling appearance thanks to wedding planning! I love to bake, knit and sew but I also ride a motorcycle (that Mr. Guinea Pig wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole). We live with our three crazy cats and love to read, travel, watch movies, and do home improvement projects together! My parents/family are Canadian but I'm definitely American, although I've lived in 5 different countries, 6 different states, and speak Russian fluently. Mr. GP and I met online (did I mention I'm a scientist?) and had a whirlwind romance - now we can't wait to get married & celebrate with all our friends and family in a blue and yellow waterfront affair!
When I last left you, we had just tremendously enjoyed ourselves at cocktail hour (did I mention there was an open bar? There was.), and now it was time to move on to tasting the main part of the meal!
We went into the largest ballroom and found each table set up with different linens and flower arrangements, to give everyone a chance to check out the options and get inspired. My favorite centerpiece in the room was this one: Read more…

I think every day should include good thin crust pizza, chocolate, an obscure historical monument, lots of laughter, a dash of wedding planning and, of course, amazing Mr. Pencils! I'm loving the adventure of planning a Maryland wedding and Rocky Mountain reception, and most of all, I just love love!
Planning on spending some time this weekend getting organized around wedding things? Great! Before you head off though, take some advice from a girly who learned the hard way… and Mr. Pencils, who says someone better get some good out of the damn things we’ve learned.
First of all, DON’T take 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon to look through every wedding planning book that Barnes and Noble has… you’ll give your groom good reason to question your sanity…
DO at least look through some wedding organizer books because they give fantastic tips and help you think of things you may have forgotten! Read more…

Engagement Date: May 2, 2008Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Indiana Memorial UnionAbout Me: I'm an Indiana transplant living in DC with my fiance and our pretty kitty. I enjoy the color pink, I'm obsessed with the Dior New Look and tulle, and I heart my level 80 paladin. I'm a sucker for bad TV, literary theory, and cakes of all persuasion. I also happen to be marrying the cutest closet nerd around! It's all about Bloomington for us because it's where we met -- on the college paper. If there's a theme for our small summertime wedding, it's Dior meets Dorothy Draper on a lark in Bloomington; think poofy, plus graphic prints, bold colors, and a whole lot of prettiness.
In terms of our budget, we’re reaching the end. My parents are contributing a significant amount (the majority) and are within their own set budget, which is fabulous. But there are things we felt we needed to pay for as a couple and unfortunately, we underestimated a few of them. This leaves our honeymoon in a bit of a limbo.
The first idea was to do an all-inclusive in Mexico. Read more…
Mrs. French Bulldog, Orange CountyAge and Occupation: 28, Administrative Assistant & Interior Design StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Purchasing AnalystEngagement Date: November 8, 2008Wedding Date: August 2009Venue: Bernardo WineryAbout Me: I've lived in Atlanta, Dallas and Laguna Niguel; although I've lived in Orange County, CA most my life, I'm a Southerner at heart. I work full time for a Commercial General Contractor (aka my father) and I go to school for Interior Design at night. I love modern design, music, wine, crafting, DMailing, my family, my Westies, and of course, Mr Frenchie! Mr Frenchie and I met 3 years ago on Match.com and have been best friends ever since. I love his "old soul" and how he laughs with his whole body, among many other things. We are planning our summer wedding at the winery near his hometown, just 45 minutes south of Orange County.
Hey Southern Cali hive members! As I’m sure you’ve noticed, it’s raining outside. Well, rain is in the forecast for today as well!
This puts a kink in our outdoor dining plans in Del Mar… Boo, hiss! So, we’ve moved this meet up yet again. We’ll still be meeting at noon, but we’ve moved the venue to Karl Strauss in Carlsbad. We tried to make it as close as possible to Del Mar, while still making it convenient for those traveling from LA and OC. Plus, they have TONS of FREE parking.
