Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PAAge and Occupation: 25, Medical StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical StudentEngagement Date: June 28, 2008Wedding Date: March 2010Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel ReceptionAbout Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
Simple words spoken by our officiant at our wrap-up meeting in January.
Well, last Friday it was time to fulfill the one outstanding obligation - Burger & I got licensed to wed!
Pennsylvania law states that a marriage license has to be used within 60 days, and with only 34 (OMG 34!) days until our wedding, we were go for launch!
We took the afternoon off on Friday to head up to York, Pennsylvania. Luckily, Pennsylvania allows you to get your marriage license in any county in the state, not just the one you plan to be married in, which saved us a few hours in the car!
Like many other bees have experienced, no cameras or cell phones were allowed in the building.
Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CAAge and Occupation: 27, Law StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force PilotEngagement Date: February 21, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill WineryAbout Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
Hello, I’m Miss Jellyfish, but you can call me Jelly! I’ve been a devoted Weddingbee reader since shortly after Mr. Jelly and I got engaged a year ago, and I even started blogging with the hopes that I might one day apply to be a bee myself. I feel so honored to be part of this amazing community and I’m excited to share my wedding plans with all of you! But before we get into the nitty-gritty wedding stuff, here’s some background on the Jellies: Read more…
Mrs. Nachos, Chicago/St. ThomasAge and Occupation: 33, Commercial Real Estate & HairstylistFiance's Age and Occupation: 36, Radio ProducerEngagement Date: May 22, 2009Wedding Date: April 2010Venue: Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort, St. ThomasAbout Me: I'm a happy, laid back city girl that can find the silver lining in any situation. An optimist at heart, my motto is to turn your "what ifs?" into "so whats!". My fiance is a radio producer and the biggest Cubs fan you'll meet - our apartment decor definitely shows it. He and I grew up next door to each other and because of it, we have the best home videos and easiest holiday dinners. We are planning an intimate wedding in the Virgin Islands and a cocktail party in June for 150 of our closest friends.
I’m guessing I’m not alone in this, but we have some concerns about people bringing uninvited guests to the home party. And I’m also sure most of you can relate - when you’re paying a certain amount per person, every head counts!
Ms. Stripes, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 29, Costume Designer/StylistFiancee's Age and Occupation: 29, ChefEngagement Date: June 23, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Heritage Square MuseumAbout Me: I’m a type A creative with a messy streak, a loud mouth, and an uncanny knack for combining clashing patterns. I can usually be found with my nose in a book, my feet (or at least my toes) on the ground, my head in the clouds, and my arm around the prettiest girl you ever saw- aka
Fiancee Stripes. Together we’re planning a FUN vintage/modern French carnival wedding extravaganza and rockin’ dance party on a dime. (Say that three times fast!) Good coffee, long lists, Uniball pens, and my iPhone keep me sane, and making art, making trouble, and making out keep me happy! I love urban adventures, bike rides that end with afternoon drinks, breakfast for dinner, beautiful light, photography, travel, my furry family, and of course, my beautiful fiancee! I’m super excited to be here and can’t wait to share all our adventures as we craft a joyful, budget-friendly, design-savvy and all-around AWESOME wedding!
That’s “Google to Do It For Me”, in case ya didn’t know. Anyhoo…
“Google Docs is magic.”
That was Miss Scissors’ response when I mentioned writing about it to a few of my fellow bees yesterday. And, um, she is in fact correct. And then some.
Google is magic and Google Docs is THE magic potion that will gather your guest’s info in gossamer thread and deliver it to you by unicorn post.** **Seriously it’s that amazing. So get me a butter beer (and add a shot of Makers to it) while I rhapsodize about my guest list.
I know I have a tendency towards hyperbole, but after thinking about the list of things Google helped me out with today alone, I’m pretty sure I’m not exaggerating this time.
Check it:
I learned what is appropriate to wear with a white dinner jacket.
I figured out where to get lunch.
I navigated to David Hasselhoff’s house.
AND I entered 54 email addresses, hit send, and ALREADY got back 32 complete sets of contact info for our lovely guest list. In spreadsheet form.
I’m most excited about that last accomplishment—so thanks, Google!
You want your guest list delivered up by unicorn post too? Read more…
Mrs. Paisley, Orange County, CAAge and Occupation: 25, JournalistFiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Spanish ProfessorEngagement Date: September 2008Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Family Lake HouseAbout Me: From my earliest days I attracted attention, as much for my intelligence as for beauty. I display an originality, a perspicacity, a certain je ne sais quoi that sets me apart. I posses a mysterious authority which compels people to do my bidding. I am a regal blonde with classic features and the daintiness of Dresden porcelain. I am poised, soft-spoken, and well educated... Okay, now that enough eyebrows have sufficiently shot through the roof, everybody can relax---I kid! I'm just a sarcastic NorCal-turned-SoCal girl who loves outdoor activities, books, letterpress printing and of course, Professor Paisley.
The feather hair flower: the trend of the ’10s (is that what you call the year/decade we’re in now?). I believe a hair flower––and I’m talking a normal-sized (nothin’ against the gimongous ones, they’re just not my thing), plain ivory, with or without a few feathers––will become the one trend of the early 2000s to transcend all time and become a classic. I’m talking, Grace Kelly-chignon-classic. Audrey Hepburn’s-French-twist-and-tiny-bangs-classic. Don’t believe me? Take a gander (haha) at these feathery finds in an inspiration board I made:

Mrs. Hot Dog, Cheyenne, WYAge and Occupation: 23, Health Information SpecialistFiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Personal Trainer
Engagement Date: March 2009Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: Family Ranch outside Glenrock, WYAbout Me: I'm a city girl by birth and rural girl by choice. I'm ready to take on the world with a big heart and a big smile! I love all things crafty and DIY. I live in Cheyenne, WY with Mr. HD and our 2 fur babies, our dachshunds, Ollie and Mia. I love travel, adventure, Finding Nemo, '90s music, animals, and laughing. He is the cheese to my macaroni and together we spend more time watching movies than we probably should! I'm an old soul who is super duper excited to pull off our down home-rustic-chic-country wedding (on the cheap)!
So, in case you haven’t heard me shouting joyously from the rooftops, my little sister is ENGAGED! And she made me her maid of honor! This means I got to do all the fun bridal shower planning and help out with her wedding. Good practice for mine, no?
Now, on to the goodies… I love me some food! Especially baked goods. And, OK, I may have an unnatural obsession with cupcakes. Not only are they dee-lish, but they are also aesthetically pleasing. Double whammy! Needless to say I will be including these little guys in the food choices. The spread is going to be pretty simple. Just some finger sandwiches, a cheese-meat-cracker tray, chips-and-dip, and the cuppy-cakes. NOM NOM.
Grandma is taking care of the cheesy-meaty delights, mom is making the chip dip, and I’m responsible for the cupcakes and sandwiches. I’ll probably end up just ordering a big sub from Subway. But the cupcakes… Now those need to be something special. Something like this:
Mrs. French Bulldog, Orange CountyAge and Occupation: 28, Administrative Assistant & Interior Design StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Purchasing AnalystEngagement Date: November 8, 2008Wedding Date: August 2009Venue: Bernardo WineryAbout Me: I've lived in Atlanta, Dallas and Laguna Niguel; although I've lived in Orange County, CA most my life, I'm a Southerner at heart. I work full time for a Commercial General Contractor (aka my father) and I go to school for Interior Design at night. I love modern design, music, wine, crafting, DMailing, my family, my Westies, and of course, Mr Frenchie! Mr Frenchie and I met 3 years ago on Match.com and have been best friends ever since. I love his "old soul" and how he laughs with his whole body, among many other things. We are planning our summer wedding at the winery near his hometown, just 45 minutes south of Orange County.
Last we left off, Mr Frenchie and I had just come down the aisle and were enjoying that ‘Just Married’ feeling. I asked what you guys wanted next and it looks like “family portraits” won the vote, so on we went with family portraits.
Like most couples, we decided to do family portraits right after the ceremony, during cocktail hour. We really wish we could have gone to cocktail hour, but had to sacrifice this to have pictures with everyone in our families and pictures of just us. My awesome DOC brought us over plates of our tasty appetizers, so we didn’t miss out entirely.
Let’s get this party started, shall we? If you’re wondering how we picked the order we took the pictures in, we did it in the order of people that were there. If you got the memo and came to get your picture taken, you got put in front of the camera. Meanwhile, I got all bridezilla and sent people to fetch those that were absent.
Mrs. Argyle, St. LouisAge and Occupation: 24, Project CoordinatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, PilotEngagement Date: February 15, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on WashingtonAbout Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
I have seen the idea before, but this time it really struck me. I think it would be a fun and modern twist on the original bouquet to instead have the girls carry clutches in different patterns of reds and/or oranges. For the sake of the wedding ceremony, we could adorn each clutch with a broach or flower. Read more…
Mrs. Sewing, San Mateo, CA/Honolulu, HIAge and Occupation: 24, Electrical EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical EngineerEngagement Date: June 27, 2009Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Anela Garden Chapel & Japanese Cultural Center, HonoluluAbout Me: I'm an easily entertained, compulsive idea-scheming machine who loves good art, good food, and a good engineering challenge. I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!
I never planned on being a veiled bride. Only a hair flower or two is what I thought I’d have, and I’d be content.
Until I was presented with this:
That’s right - my very own vintage veil pattern from 1951. And not just any pattern, but the one used by my grandmother many years ago for her own wedding. Read more…

I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!

I couldn't live without Pantone markers, fountain soda (3/4 diet, ¼ regular Coke), run-on sentences, or ridiculously oversized sunglasses. I will try to DIY almost anything and am just OCD enough to make most of it work. I am truly excited about having all my family and friends together, becoming Mrs. Gloss, and having amazing photos to prove it!
After our lake cruise/ceremony/cocktail hour(s) was complete we headed back to the dock for the reception! It took some persuading for our guests to actually get off the boat; I don’t blame them for not wanting to leave, though.

Mrs. Trail Mix, New YorkAge and Occupation: 26, PE TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, MBA StudentEngagement Date: March 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Tannery Pond at the Darrow SchoolAbout Me: I'm a country girl who somehow found herself living in the Big Apple and loving every minute of it. I'm planning a rustic, country-chic wedding in my hometown in upstate New York and it's going to be a Party with a capital P. White wine, flea markets and running keep me happy and my friends, family and fiance are my world. I'm a little bit crafty, a little bit crazy but mostly just crazy in love.
Don’t worry, there will be no wacky, choreographed first dance at the Trail Mix wedding (although I do love a good Evolution of Dance). But it took us a while to come up with the right songs for our three dances at the beginning of the reception.
Obviously, number one is the (duh) first dance. Right after Mr Trail Mix and I got engaged, we briefly discussed using “The Idea of You”, a Dave Matthews Band song that we both love. But to be honest, we’ve never had what we would consider to be “our song” and it seemed a little random just to pick a song without having some sentimentality attached. (I’m a total guppie when it comes to sentimentality. Can ya tell?)
Then while out running one day, a random, just-downloaded song came onto my iPod and I had an “Oooooooh, this song is PERFECT!!!!!!!” moment (What? You don’t have them too?) Read more…

I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married.
Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.
Mr Pretzel was very clear about where he wanted us to honeymoon.
Prior to moving to the West Coast, Hawaii seemed like a very far away place and very expensive. When I moved here I was astonished how frequently West Coasters will vacation in Hawaii. It seems so close and yet neither Mr P nor I have made the trip. Mr Pretzel got the closest to going to Hawaii. Read more…
