Mrs. Frozen Yogurt, Dallas
Age and Occupation: 28, Special Projects Coordinator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Equity Trader
Engagement Date: March 19, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2010
Venue: Marie Gabrielle, Dallas
About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, and have lived in several of the cities across the state, but I currently reside in Austin. I went to college in Boston and have a special place in my heart for the Northeast. I love reading, shopping, wine, reuniting with college friends that are scattered across the country, reality TV, trying out new recipes, and attempting all the DIY projects that come along with wedding planning. I'm a "bleeding heart, save the world type" and thankfully my job allows me to work on legislation and policy to help out those in need. I met Mr. Frozen Yogurt in a bar, though he doesn't even drink! And now we are planning a modern yet vintage wedding in Dallas while dealing with the trials and tribulations of first time homeownership.
So, one of the best parts of wedding planning is getting the RSVP cards back and figuring out who will actually attend the wedding. Also, isn’t it fun to get mail every day that isn’t a bill or coupon? And, when people don’t put their return addresses on the back, I’m always excited to open it up and see who it’s from. I also love it when our guests get creative and send a little note to make us laugh or smile.
Some bees before me have even encouraged guests to leave notes by creating a line for them to write a little message. I tried to do something a little different with the RSVP wording, and one of our guests figured out a wonderful little rhyme that I didn’t even consider when choosing the wording.

Mrs. Pencils, Washington DC/Frederick, MD
Age and Occupation: 24, Program Director, Education Non Profit
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Administrative Assistant, Ocean Conservation Non Profit
Engagement Date: July 26, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2010
Venue: Morningside Inn
About Me: I'm a nerdy Northwestern girl who always knew she was meant to live in the East, harboring a deep love of ice cream, underwear, Diet Coke with a splash of Coca-Cola, pashminas, scrapbooking, stationery, wall calendars and books written for preteens. I think every day should include good thin crust pizza, chocolate, an obscure historical monument, lots of laughter, a dash of wedding planning and, of course, amazing Mr. Pencils! I'm loving the adventure of planning a Maryland wedding and Rocky Mountain reception, and most of all, I just love love!
So I bit the bullet and did it. Envelope liners, I mean. I was stuck in the house for about ten days solid, and had to do something! First I read many other bees’ adventures with this same thing. Then I got to work.
Here’s where I ended up, inside and out, as tease:

Mrs. Spaniel, Los Angeles
Age and Occupation: 28, Law Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Psychologist
Wedding Date: March 2010
Venue: Calamigos Ranch
About Me: I'm a third-year law student trying to balance graduating with starting my career, keeping up a relationship, and, oh yeah, planning an Old World, multi-cultural, "mountain lodge" wedding for 180 guests! A South Asian Jewish girl getting ready to marry my handsome Catholic Dane, I'm hoping to blend our cultures in our wedding just a bit more gently than by providing samosas as appetizers and offering æbleskiver for dessert. (Although that would also be awesome.)
Remember when I was worried that I wouldn’t have enough old family wedding pictures for my “something old”? Well, I decided not to use them as table numbers, but instead to display them next to our guest book, but not because we didn’t have enough pictures—my family came through BIG TIME—just because I thought the effect was more awesome when they are all together. I picked up a whole bunch of mismatched frames on clearance at Target (ranging from $0.98 to $3.48) in mostly 5×7″ sizes (with some 4×6″ and 8×10″ thrown in for some variety) and went nuts.
Want to see? Here are a few of my favorites. I’ll start with the newest.*

Engagement Date: February 28, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2009
Venue: City Hall
About Me: I'm a career woman on the surface and a homemaker at heart. I love fast cars and high heels, and my favorite food is cake. Mr. Mary Jane and I are both full-time employees and students, and we just bought our first house. We love to curl up on the couch with buttery popcorn, Sour Patch Kids, and the latest Netflix arrival -- whenever we can get a break from everyday life.
We chose Secrets! A few days ago, we Mary Janes booked our honeymoon to Secrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
We’re used to this…

But we think we could get used to this!

Engagement Date: February 15, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington
About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
Okay, not really. Although I did touch up my blonde-y locks to be a bit brighter.
I really haven’t given much thought to my wedding hair at all. I mean, If I come across something in a magazine, I usually just tear out the page and save it, but that’s about it. But, then I found this totally awesome and fantastically beautiful hairstyle. I so would like for my hair to look like this on my wedding day. I think it would completely match our whole look and feel.

Mrs. Pug, New York City/Half Moon Bay, CA
Age and Occupation: 33, Lawyer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, ditto
Engagement Date: July 2008
Wedding Date: March 2010
Venue: Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay
About Me: The Mr. and I are two 30-somethings who enjoy tasty sweets of all kinds, our neighborhood wine store, and cuddling with our pug. NYC is where we live and the city we love, but we’re doing the deed out in Northern California. We are trying to keep the affair small, intimate, and manageable. Our motto is: the less people, the better! (I’m kidding.)

And here’s a look at the process of making our invitations, which went out last month. I know, so fun. I won’t go through the nitty gritty of using a Gocco because you find that in plenty of other places, but here are some highlights.
(”Highlights” may be overstating the case, but nevertheless, we shall muddle through.)
We started with our artichoke image.

(copyrighted by Bobbi Angell—do not use without permission!)
I wanted to use the artichoke on all three parts of our invitation suite—main invitation, schedule of events, RSVP card—but not the same exact image.
So my friend used Adobe Illustrator to create two alternate images to this main one—one with a close up of the bottom portion of the stems, and one with just the smaller artichoke on the right of the image.

Mrs. Piglet, Virginia/Oahu
Age and Occupation: 28, Consultant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Entrepreneur/Fashion Apparel Wholesale Importer
Engagement Date: June 22, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2009
Venue: Ceremony at the Lanikuhonua Phase II private estate, reception at a historic hotel in Waikiki
About Me: I'm an East Coast gal with intense road rage and an addiction to romantic comedies, fast food, gadgets, Korean BBQ, and my wiener dog George aka Georgia May. I carry mustard packets in my purse and I love perusing the aisles at discount stores. A self proclaimed shopaholic, I impulsively buy electronics, software, and craft tools; none of which I know how to use. I'm excited to dust
these babies off and immerse myself in DIY projects galore in
preparation for our DW in paradise!
Dum-dum-da-dummmmm. It was finally time. We were cued to start the procession. My stomach was in knots as I stood arm in arm with my Pops (I’m a total Daddy’s, girl by the way). He stood there holding my train so as not to get a speckle of dirt on it before we made our grand entrance.
I could faintly hear Air on G String in the background played by Flute a la Harpe. Then, two-by-two, I saw our moms, Mr Piglet’s brothers, and our bridal party disappear through the opening in the trees.
Now’s as good a time as ever to share the first minutes of our video by Kai Media. Early on, I was one of those brides who decided against hiring a videographer, and wanted a friend to capture some key moments to later share with family that couldn’t attend. In short, we changed our minds. Namely because we hadn’t found anyone that was gung-ho to do it. It was a cursory decision, but one we’re glad we made.
Post wedding, Kai Media asked us to provide them some songs to integrate into the video. Knowing that Mr Piglet loves Korean music (as do I, though I don’t understand it), I tried to pick a Korean love song. I figured I had watched enough Korean dramas to know the good mushy stuff. But I so suck. I picked a tragic love song, and it turns out, Kai Media used it for our ceremony portion. Luckily, they willingly replaced it with another happy love song hand picked by Changsik (the dad of the group… ‘member)?
So here it goes… our grand entrance to the tune of Cool – Promise (one of the few happy Korean love songs).

About Me: I'm a city girl by birth and rural girl by choice. I'm ready to take on the world with a big heart and a big smile! I love all things crafty and DIY. I live in Cheyenne, WY with Mr. HD and our 2 fur babies, our dachshunds, Ollie and Mia. I love travel, adventure, Finding Nemo, '90s music, animals, and laughing. He is the cheese to my macaroni and together we spend more time watching movies than we probably should! I'm an old soul who is super duper excited to pull off our down home-rustic-chic-country wedding (on the cheap)!
Oh, our ENGAGEMENT PICTURES!
The arrival of our CD was the only thing that kept this day from being a total waste of makeup. Don’t get me wrong; I love the snow. I just don’t love being out of gas in a blizzard. Ya feel me?
Enough with dwelling on the ca-ca parts… I’ve got e-pics to share! The photog (Sarah Christine) took over 100 pictures, so I’ll just show you some of my faves!

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Automotive Designer
Engagement Date: May 9, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2009
Blogging Since: September 14, 2008
Venue: University of Michigan Union
About Me: I’m a girl who is crazy about Mr. Taffy, sewing, dancing, almost all types of sweets, and our cute pet canaries. I dislike touching fuzzy fabric of any kind, eating somewhat squishy food, and Michigan winters. Mr. Taffy and I are having a blast planning our Ann Arbor wedding, and cannot wait to share our day with friends and family.
Although I woke up at what seemed like the *$# crack of dawn, I wasn’t too tired on the morning of our wedding. (I was able to fall asleep the night before thanks to exhaustion and Advil PM! Mr. Taffy was not as lucky- he didn’t sleep a wink.) Fueled by excitement and nerves, I raced through my shower, rushing to dry my hair. I had forgotten to set aside a button down shirt to wear to the salon, so I grabbed the first thing I could reach out of my closet and headed out to run some last minute errands with Lexie, my maid of honor, who had stayed the night.
At the salon, ready for action!!!

Mrs. Sewing, San Mateo, CA/Honolulu, HI

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical Engineer
Engagement Date: June 27, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Anela Garden Chapel & Japanese Cultural Center, Honolulu
About Me: I'm an easily entertained, compulsive idea-scheming machine who loves good art, good food, and a good engineering challenge. I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!
After the hair and makeup were finished, and Mr. Sew found some hole-less Dockers, we set out for our engagement photo shoot around the island!
Except…
The car broke down.

Yeaaah. So much for that grand-master-plan! So now, I present to you the pictures taken down the street from said incident (while waiting for the tow truck). No joke, these were taken in a parking lot.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 36, Radio Producer
Engagement Date: May 22, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2010
Venue: Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort, St. Thomas
About Me: I'm a happy, laid back city girl that can find the silver lining in any situation. An optimist at heart, my motto is to turn your "what ifs?" into "so whats!". My fiance is a radio producer and the biggest Cubs fan you'll meet - our apartment decor definitely shows it. He and I grew up next door to each other and because of it, we have the best home videos and easiest holiday dinners. We are planning an intimate wedding in the Virgin Islands and a cocktail party in June for 150 of our closest friends.
The last piece I needed for the centerpieces was flowers for the big vases. This proved to be a challenge – every time I walked into Jo-Ann Fabrics or Michaels, of course I found flowers, but not exactly what I was looking for. I looked around online and still couldn’t find what I was picturing in my head. That’s when Mr. N hopped on his computer and started looking at things I hadn’t thought of—leis, garland, etc. Such a smart Nacho! I figured leis wouldn’t work because I’d want to cut off those little plastic doodads in between the flowers, but then they’d all be sitting on top of each other. Scott found a website, 1888flowermall, and they had pretty looking garland for pretty cheap! I found these and scooped them right up…

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Civil Engineer
Engagement Date: December 19, 2007
Wedding Date: September 2009
Venue: Barr Mansion
About Me: I just graduated from law school and will be taking the bar, getting married, going on a honeymoon with my guy, and then trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!

Mrs. Cola, Mountain View, CA
Age and Occupation: 27, Product Communications and Promotions
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Managing Partner and Senior Designer
Engagement Date: March 5, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: The Mountain Terrace, Woodside, CA
About Me: I’m a Washington State native, enjoying life in Silicon Valley California with my fiancé, our three kitties and one leopard gecko. I like reading wedding blogs, Photoshopping wedding design mock ups, making lists, and planning, planning, planning! I’m a bit of an anomaly, on one side I’m a very girlie girl, I collect shoes, I lay out my outfits 4-6 weeks in advance, and I’d never leave the house without my hair curled and makeup on. But on the other side, I’m a total tomboy, I love to go camping and hiking, play drinking games (hey, I’m Irish!) and most of my closest friends are guys. My fiancé and I are planning a DIY-focused wedding with a balance between easygoing (what he wants) and chic and stylish (what I want), and are tying it all together with elements in lavender, sage, butter cream and chocolate.
As I mentioned a week or so ago, Mr. Cola actually got his wedding band before I got mine. And you’ve already seen it; he ended up getting the one from my ring inspiration post, the $99 BOMANI Tungsten Carbide Carbon Fiber Ring. He really liked it (well, as much as he was going to like any piece of jewelry) because of the fact that it has carbon fiber in it, which apparently is “really cool.”
So we decided to order it, since there was only a small restocking fee if he didn’t like it. But he did, and so he never had to step foot in a jewelry store, much to his relief.
And here it is; he wore it all evening the night it came in the mail to get a little used to it.

Mrs. Lamb, Norfolk
Age and Occupation: 25, Homeland Security Consultant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Graduate Student
Engagement Date: January 2009
Wedding Date: January 2010
Venue: Trinity Presbyterian Church/Harrison Opera House
About Me: I’m a Homeland Security Consultant with a tendency towards pulling office pranks, taking lunch breaks, and drinking Wawa shakes. I’m also an English major with a serious obsession with alliteration and rhymes. While I’m not keeping America safe, I’m training for half marathons and the Escape from Alcatraz swim. Or moving for the third time this year. Or baking. Or wedding crafting. Or crying about wedding planning. All the while, I’m getting myself into Lucille Ball-esque scrapes and making Jim Carey-esque faces. Our big fat Czech/Baptist/Jewish/Italian wedding is a combination of vintage eclectic, DIY, and little spoonful of sugar from our Event Coordinator. It’s going to be a Norfolk flavored wedding with the verve of an only-daughter-blow-out bash!
As I wrap up my recaps (still a few more up my sleeve), I wanted to find a small way to commemorate my time blogging the wedding. Writing for the hive has been such an awesome experience and I wanted a sweet reminder. When I was in high school, I was cast as Annie Sullivan in “The Miracle Worker”. My parents gifted me a lovely necklace featuring a key and lock, symbolic of Annie’s teaching relationship with Helen Keller. I cherish that necklace and still wear it at times to remember my cast mates and the overall lessons and themes in my life at the time. After toying with several other ideas (like this cute trinket box), I came back and settled on idea of a necklace.
I typed “bee necklace” into Etsy.com and holy moly - 68 pages worth of results were returned! I combed through pages and pages, finally organizing my favorites into a few categories. Some of these I thought would be the icing on the cake for several lovely wedding related outfits (garden weddings, showers, etc.!).
First, the obvious and understated necklaces featuring bee charms:
