… and an amphibian! That froggy was too cute to pass up!
Irene has just delivered possibly one of the cutest generations ever! (We probably say this about every generation, don’t we! But the cuteness keeps rolling in!)

The title of this post says it all. I bite my nails, and I have since I was 8. In fact, I can distinctly remember the first time I bit them - my older cousin was doing it, and I thought I should too. Real cool, 8 year old Cheeseburger. Now you’re a grown woman with persistently ugly fingers.
Despite my best (read: non-existent) efforts, it’s not looking good for the wedding. In fact, the longest I’ve gone in the last year without biting is about a month, and even after that much growth, my nails still left something to be desired.
My usual fix for a fancy occasion? A $5.00 box of glue-on nails. They go on quickly and stay on for at least a day or two for sure - sometimes longer. But they are also really easy to remove when I’m ready! I get the really, really short ones, and sometimes I even file down more. I usually get lots of compliments on them - I don’t know if people are just being nice, or if they really can’t tell that they’re from CVS?

But for the wedding, I’m thinking of doing something a little more permanent.

If you could please show up to our wedding rehearsal in this or something like this, Mr. Argyle and I would love you forever. We’re not even kidding. This goes you for you too, Mom and Dad Argyle. (And, I know they would totally take part in this.) I love it.

A while back I started thinking about where and when to do our engagement photos. Initially, I wanted to do them during the spring or summer, when everything is green and bright. I thought we could go up the mountain near our ceremony site. But then I started thinking FALL and SNOW. I was SO over summer.
But wouldn’t the snow have been a perfect backdrop?! We could wear bright colors and it would’ve totally popped! Or we could’ve worn muted, earthy colors and have totally blended into our surroundings… the possibilities are endless! Not to mention the winter fashions are SOOO cute! I love me some bulky sweaters and knit hats!
So I did what any good little blogger does… I GOOGLED! And here is the amazing wedding porn I found…

Don’t they look so cute and cozy?! source

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
One of the things I’m tackling in March is attire for the entire bridal party. So, here is what we have so far.
Flower Girls’ dresses – check (By the way, I was randomly shopping at Marshall’s one day and spun by the kid’s clothes and found 2 ivory flower girl dresses for $30 each.)
Bridesmaid dresses – check (Originally $200 at Anthropologie and marked down to $50.)
Bride – check (Purchased my dress off the rack at a discount + no tax)
For the girls, I AM missing flowers for the girls’ hair, a flower for my hair and a bridal sash. I’m not a huge fan of the bejeweled organza sash that came with my dress so I plan to strip it for parts (vintage-y jewels) and use them to make my own fabric flowers. I’ve been searching for inspiration and here is what has struck my fancy.

So, a funny thing happened during our registry process. Oh no, wait… make that multiple oddities…
One of the first stores that Mr. Buttons and I registered at was Target. I love Target… it is one of my favorite places to shop, and we knew that our guests would be able to find a local store easily if they wanted to go in person. Sooo, Mr. Buttons and I walked the aisles, scanning a few items here and there. When we finished, we handed our scanner back to the customer service rep and were on our merry way.
Two days later, MOH Buttons sends me a message that reads, “is there something you aren’t telling us?”
Me: “Um, no??? What in the heck are you talking about?”
MOH Buttons: “Check your registry.”
I furrowed my brow and quickly navigated to the Target website to investigate.
And there, ladies and gentlemen, staring back at me from my registry…was this:

So you just read about our glorious Save the Dates, boarding pass style! Well, I’ll now confess that before I became a blogger and realized that the wedding blogging world would see my lack of creativity, I was a DIY copycat. Yes, I admit it. A copycat. I know, say it isn’t so, but it is. But here is hers.

Here’s mine.

After the hair was good to go, Dorys moved me to her makeup chair. And I think that chair was magical, because I looked completely different when I left it!

Maleana Cosmetics is a bit unique in that it’s Hawaii’s first boutique makeup line. Not pleased with the way existing products worked in the island’s environment, Dorys created the line to work best in the high heat and humidity. And work it did. That makeup stayed on, bright and vivid, all day and night!

For a while my mom would call me and say things like, “I can’t sleep at night, thinking about getting your dress altered.” She was very, very worried. (She worries a lot.)
She was anxious about:
I wasn’t terribly at all concerned about any of these things, but I didn’t want to keep my mom up at night, counting silk-sheathed sheep to sleep.

I’ve struggled with my weight from a very young age. I was a size 13/14 by the time I was in eighth grade and I’ve fluctuated between an 18/20 since I graduated high school. My body image has been poor for as long as I can remember; it’s only been Mr. Dachshund’s love that has allowed me begin to view myself in a different light. When he tells me that I’m beautiful, I know in my heart that he is absolutely genuine and I feel beautiful. My self-image has improved exponentially in the time that Mr. Dachshund and I have been together.
It may have been more logical for this post to have gone up around the beginning of my blogging for Weddingbee because being plus-sized is something that so many brides relate to and identify with. I agree that I should have written this much sooner, but I was so nervous that my size would be the one thing that became my identity as a Weddingbee blogger. I’m not sure what exactly I wanted to build my blogging identity around, but I certainly didn’t want to become “The plus-sized bee” right out of the starting gate.
It’s come time for me to share my dress shopping experience, and I don’t think I can do that without this preface. As a plus-sized bride, every insecurity that I’ve ever had about my body has come flooding back in full force. I can’t remember the last decision I’ve made for this wedding where the thought of my weight wasn’t in the back of my mind.

Dearest hive,
I know I haven’t written since September and for those of you who remember my posts, you are probably wondering why my lazy arse stopped writing recaps half-way through. I wanted to be honest and announce that I have decided to get a divorce. It is safe to say that this decision is absolutely for the best. When you are in a relationship where you aren’t being treated fairly for a long time, it is easy to put up your blinders and tell yourself that things will pick up and change. This past year it became absolutely clear to me that it was time to take off my blinders to make a better future for myself.
It’s hard to say if I should have seen this coming. Things were never completely stable, but a sudden spiral took place several months after the wedding, during which we attended couples therapy, which only led to more lying and deceit on his behalf. Trying to help someone who suffers from bipolar disorder and depression but refuses to acknowledge the issues at hand or attend personal counseling is not an easy task. I was an incredibly supportive wife (emotionally, financially, artistically, etc.) and realized my decision wasn’t just a matter of me simply losing patience. I had told myself that it was OK that I was the only one giving in the relationship because he needed me and I was sure he would get through this and give back when he could. I knew I could cope with the ever-changing mood swings and even the recurring tantrums—him screaming while breaking my belongings and storming out for hours after a Phillies loss, for instance—but my patience ran thin when his disorder was used as an excuse for lie after lie. Having someone lie straight to your face when you know they aren’t being honest and not even seeing a glimmer of guilt in their eye has to be one of the worst feelings ever. It was a feeling I was becoming more and more numb to over the past year, and I finally got to the point where I didn’t see a purpose in pursuing a relationship without mutual trust or respect.
I had to make the very difficult decision to put myself first and think about what was best for me.

Our wedding photographer, Amy Deputy, is awesome.
Remember how in my last post, I was complaining about the snow? Well, it wasn’t all bad! See, after the first major blizzard, Mr. Guinea Pig and I trekked out to Amy’s studio for a meeting and she did a mini-shoot with us in the snow in her backyard! In about 30 minutes of roaming around outside, she managed to capture 100 great photos of Mr. Guinea Pig and me, which is no easy feat! So now we have more engagement photos, in addition to our first set of e-pics, and they are fantastic. In fact, it’s a really weird notion to me that I actually like so many photos of myself - has anybody else had this experience? Anyway…
This was the first time Mr. Guinea Pig had met Amy (he was living in CA when I had to book a photographer), so we wanted to get a feel for her shooting style and get over some of our camera shyness! Amy was great at getting us to relax and act more like ourselves than the frozen (ha) smiles we started with, and we had so much fun rambling around in the snow!
To begin with, the pre-covered-in-snow portion of the photos…

These days it seems as though brides and grooms are opting for something a little bit different for their cake. Long gone are the traditional cake toppers featuring the bride and groom in static poses.
As weddings become less and less about “old tradition” and more and more about the bride and groom, the nearlyweds are picking fun cake toppers like the ones below, most of which are great Etsy finds, as usual! Etsy never disappoints!
