Cocktail Hour Ice Breaker

March 1st, 2010 @ 11:27 am by Mrs. Argyle

This is a fantastic DIY idea for a cocktail hour, or even a wedding shower, which I found on iDIY. You can put fun little facts on these about the bride (at a shower) or the bride and the groom (cocktail hour or reception). The best part? It gets your guests involved in the wedding.

All it takes are little cards, which you can create using printer paper and cardstock. Just print out the fun little facts on pieces of paper and cut them into small pieces. Then, attach them to the cardstock.

To make the “scratch off” part, just mix two parts of metallic paint and one part liquid washing soap. Use a craft paint brush to paint over the image or fun fact on the paper.

It takes about two coats to fully cover the text/image on your little scratch offs. Let them dry between coats, and once all of the coats are dry, you are good to go, so grab your pennies!

The full tutorial can be found on Artmind website.

Mr. A and I are not going to tackle this project (I just don’t have the DIY spirit in me), but we may find another way to get our guests mingling, using a DIY-light idea. Although, I honestly don’t think talking and mingling will be a problem. My side of the family is full of talkers!

Are you doing any ice breakers for your guests?

Must. Do.
I think these would be GREAT in the OOT bags or as part of the cocktail hour.

Dont’ forget to cover the scratch-off area with clear contact paper first or you’ll never get it all to scratch off! :) What a fun project!

oh that is cool. but sigh, i’m with you, not gonna do it. i know some bees have printed different little fun facts about the couple on their cocktail napkins–but i’m kind of with you, i think your guests will do just fine without the icebreaker!

I think I might do that for my friends bridal shower. At the wedding though, our ice breaker is the open bar LOL

We’re doing the cards for our cocktail hour. They’re full of funny questions about the bride, groom, or us as a couple. Some of the questions even have bonus questions related to the original question. lol. I hadn’t thought of the scratch off’s, but those look awesome! Thanks for the heads up! I’m going to try. :)
