Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.
About Mrs. Argyle

Dear Argyle Bridesmaids

March 1st, 2010 @ 5:53 pm by Mrs. Argyle

I originally thought that I wanted my girls to wear colored shoes, but I was quickly reminded that I will be sporting this lovely pair. But this photo makes me rethink that for a mere second.

And, of course, I snapped back to reality.

Since my girls are wearing chocolate brown dresses, and I already have red shoes for myself, colored shoes for them made zero sense. So, I let the Argyle Bridesmaids know they would need to pick out a pair of gold shoes for the wedding. And, I’m letting them pick them out. I’m okay with them wearing different shoes, after all, they are all wearing the same dress and I’m not feeling the all matchy-matchy look. I would much rather them buy a pair they can wear again, rather than toss them in the back of their closet after the wedding.

How did you pick your bridesmaids’ shoes? Did you pick them out, or did you leave it up to them?

We’re doing the same as you–I gave them dress options, but they all picked the same one! So I told them to go for the black shoe of their choice.

I haven’t made a final decision yet, but I am pretty sure I am going to let them choose - give them a generic sort of idea of what I think might look good and then let them go to town.

I want them to be wearing shoes they actually like, and will be able to wear again. I’ve had too many pair of throw-these-away-I-will-never-wear-them-again bridesmaid shoes and I don’t want my maids to have that!

I gave all my bridesmaids the same dress and anything outside of that is all them! I want them to have their own personality in their outfit and I really dont care if they math AT ALL!

I’m just going to tell them to wear whatever shoes they want! :-)

I think I’m just going to say they’re on their own for shoes! I have zero guidance… that’s not true, I will say no white shoes :) But other than that, whatever! I think their gold shoes will look great with your red ones!

I’m doing the same thing as you - letting them all choose gold shoes to wear.

My only hesitation is that my bridal jewelry is silver - so I guess my girls will be gold, and I’ll be silver. Does that clash? Miss Argyle, what jewelry are you having your bridesmaids wear? (If that doesn’t give away a future post….)

@katiei: I have a few of those, too! They are somewhere in the back of my closet…

@Miss Guinea Pig: I’m hoping so, too!

@farmersdaughter: I actually have not decided on anyone’s jewelry yet (is that sad?). Good thing I still have nearly 7 months to decide.

I just told them to pick out a pair of brown cowboy boots. The more worn-looking, the better ;)

Like you, I think I’m going to have them wear gold/champagne shoes of their choice. Haven’t picked out a bridesmaid dress yet though…starting to freak out.

I tld them to pick any shoe they wanted in any color they wanted. Apparently I like non-matchy matchy. :)

I am leaving it up to them since they are wearing matching dresses.

I’ll probably pick a shoe in a color that matches the dress. I’m not going to tell them to wear black shoes because brown is one of our colors, and I don’t really see them in brown shoes with their burgundy dresses. Hopefully I can find some that aren’t too expensive, in light of the fact that they probably won’t wear them again.

What are the guys wearing? I was swaying on brown or my other color dresses, but wanted brown suits…and thought it was probably too much brown.

@Miss Hot Dog: Cute idea!

@eimersc: Our guys are wearing a light tan suit and a brown shoe, so the best option for the girls seemed to be gold for us.

I’m planning on letting my girls pick their own dress (just going to give them a shade…doesn’t have to be exact) and giving them a color of shoes, and four basic style options. (close tow or peep toe, maryjane or no strap).

I did pick out my bridesmaid’s shoes - but I decided to make them a part of their bridal party gift!

I’m just ignoring their shoes. They have long dresses, so I hope it doesn’t matter :)

I’m thinking of having my bridesmaids in black because our colors are royal blue and silver and neither are very flattering dress colors. Instead, I think I’m going to go with matching royal blue shoes and some kind of wrap to pull the look together. I’ll be wearing royal blue shoes too, but in a different style. Our wedding is late evening, New Year’s Eve, so I think the black dresses will look dressy, not funeral.

I am also having my girls wear their own (or ones of their choosing) gold shoes. I hope to find some green ones for myself, but it is proving tricky!
