After what seemed like an eternity, we stood there ready to wed and begin our lives together as husband and wife. With our hands locked together, my nerves slowly began to calm. Who would’ve thought that my bestie’s failed attempt to set us up in college would lead to happily ever after eight years later? Me! I love my Mr Piggy.
Our pastor alternated between Korean and English for our bilingual ceremony. Though my MIL insisted it wasn’t necessary (she thought it would be too much of a hassle), we knew Mr Piglet’s relatives from Korea would appreciate it. I thank my lucky stars that our parents were nothing but supportive of us throughout our wedding planning.

Thank you for bringing Mr Piggy into my life.

Mr Piglet’s brother recited our scripture reading, Colossians 3:12-17. He was such an eloquent speaker! For some reason, I thought he’d be super nervous to do this. But he was cool as a cucumber, and Mr Piglet and I were both beaming with pride.

Looking through our ceremony pictures, I stole many glances at Mr Pig. Most of these glances were during our pastor’s message where he shared the ten commandments for a husband and wife. Some of his practical tips on marriage were thoughtful e.g., remember birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Others were, how shall I say… bizarre? I think what he tried to convey was lost in translation, but nevertheless, it caught me off guard (e.g., don’t get lazy with your physical appearance). We can joke about it, now. And our friends love to check in on whether we’re living according to his advice.

We decided to go with traditional vows. I was more comfortable going the traditional route, and felt I was less prone to stumbling over my words.

Then the exchange of rings. I have no clue where this expression came from! Even after watching the video, I can’t remember for the life of me what was so shocking.

My turn…

A friend of Flute a la Harpe sang, The Prayer.

And then it was time for our tribute to our parents. This portion of the ceremony always gets me in tears at ALL weddings. But surprisingly, I was all smiles for ours. Both Mr Piglet and I have close knit families that mean the world to us.

We locked eyes before formally thanking our guests for sharing this moment with us.

Thank you from the Piglets!

Kiss kiss!

We finished it off with the signing of our marriage license.

At last, MRS Piglet. Woohoo!
