Tablescape Inspiration

March 2nd, 2010 @ 4:32 pm by Mrs. Hot Dog

The wonderful Miss Lamb and I have at least one thing in common: we both heart long tables.

There is something so classic and homey about a long, banquet-style table. Despite its size, it just feels and looks so cozy!

Pictures like these make me weak in the knees. Apparently, they also make me rhyme.

How gorgeous is this last one, with all the different plates and napkins? It’s totally the eclectic, down home feel we’re going for! And did you see those mason jars with rope-bows in the top picture?! That is SOOO my mental image! I’m so giddy right now!

But, uh oh, these lovelies are FAR more expensive than the traditional rounds. To this I say, “What oh?!” It just so happens that my future-stepmother-in-law (mouthful, huh?) is a teacher and has access to all the tables and chairs in the school district. Now, keep in mind, this “school district” includes ONE elementary school, ONE middle school, and ONE high school. :) So there aren’t millions of tables and chairs, but there are definitely enough! AAAANNNNNDDDDDD we don’t have to pay a DIME!! Sweet deal, no?!

What sort of tables are you having? Anyone getting some great deals on rentals?

We did long rectangular tables for our reception. So glad we did. They provide great visual impact and made it very easy for people to chat along the table. LOVE your inspiration pix!

Our venue is a long and narrow room, perfect for long tables! Unfortunately, we have too many guests for such a set-up (or so they tell us!) and will have to go for round. Booo!

That’s awesome, I’m jealous, I wanted to long tables but due to space constraints, it was a no-go…I will just have to live vicariously thru your gorgeous long-tabled wedding!

I like long tables too. We’re doing a combo of round and long for the rehearsal and just round for the reception.

I love long tables too, but sadly we won’t be using them. Our venue comes with free round or rectangular tables but it doesn’t really have the space for them for the size of our wedding. Instead, we’re seating about 60% of the crowd at the round tables and having tall cocktail tables for the rest. We hope it will encourage mingling at our New Year’s Eve wedding.

If our wedding was outdoors, I’d definitely do long tables!

Aww I love your inspiration pics. We are doing long tables, ivory linens and burlap table runners. Centerpieces are 3 vintage glass bottles with a big ivory/pink peony in each. We’re so excited, also because I got all my tables and chairs (20 tables, 200chairs) for free from local churches. Yay!

i’m more of a round table fan myself. i find in long tables, the conversation gets segmented to who’s nearby.

I love the long table idea, unfortunately, the tables that are included with our venue are mostly 60 in round so we are going with that. I really like the eclectic look in the last picture. How cute!

Hey I recognize those tables ;) Just so you know I’m still looking for the mason jars… I haven’t forgotten… they just seem to be buried in my garage. I’ll let you know as soon as I can find more than one box :)

Well well well. Isn’t that innnnneresting? I always pictured long tables to be so formal and NON-cozy but those pictures sure put my foot in my mouth. Adorable!! And how awesome about the tables? yay for connections!

Yes! My fiance is a teacher as well - hellloooo free tables and chairs! Ask your alma mater, or local school - they may be willing to accept a small donation (much “smaller” than what you’d pay a rental company!) in exchange for borrowing their tables / chairs!
