Bejeweled

March 4th, 2010 @ 12:50 pm by Mrs. Lace

Topping my list of bridal attire to-dos is jewelry. I began looking for jewelry a couple of months ago and purchased something I really loved. I was going for a vintage look and picked this set up.

I ordered them online when J.Crew had an extra 20% off and waited patiently for the postman to bring them to me. I checked the tracking number everyday to see where my little goodies were. They slowly made their way across the U.S. and arrived at my doorstep. They were packaged in these cute silver J.Crew boxes. I excitedly tried them on, loved them and packed them carefully back into their boxes. A month later, I decided I should try them on with my dress just to make sure I looked fantastic.

I put everything on and… I hated it. It was something about my skin tone with the pinkish jewels that didn’t look right. I bagged them up and reluctantly took them back to J.Crew (but I kept the cute silver boxes. Shhh, don’t tell!).

I’m in the process of looking for jewelry, but so far, nothing has caught my eye. Have you found the jewelry you’ll be wearing for your wedding day? Are you buying new jewelry? Using jewelry you already have? Borrowing jewelry?

Oh, no! They look so pretty–but I guess like anything else, you have to try it on!

Aw, how disappointing! I haven’t tried everything together yet, but yesterday it occurred to me that I don’t think I’m going to like my earrings next to my veil. Still trying to figure out which one I like more. ;)

I love those! J Crew has been coming out with some really tasty jewelry lately. Too bad those didn’t work out.

That is disappointing. I think I may go minimal with jewelry. I plan to wear eparl earrings which I already own and maybe borrow a pearl bracelet.

Oh. Were you going to wear it with your wedding dress? Cause I was picturing it with a cute, short white rehersal dress or something :]

I am planning on just wearing pearls. I’d love to get some jewlery from my grandma to wear. How does one hint to a relative across the country she’d like to be offered some fancy borrowed jewlery for her special day??! :)

@alvina: I know. I was thinking of just keeping it because I love it, but they were kinda expensive. I only splurged because it was wedding jewelry. :\ Otherwise, I would’ve!@Robin: haha. Start a blog, write about how you’d love some borrowed jewelry and invite her to read your blog? :)
@Farfromachildbride: Ooh, I’ll have to check this out! Thanks!

I’m wearing the pearl necklace/bracelet/earring set my FI got me for Christmas. I know he’ll appreciate the gesture and I love me some pearls.

Good thing you tried it all on. I bought new jewelry. After the holidays I found my earrings on sale at Juicy Couture! It was a great find! And as for my bracelet I also lucked out since I got it 50% off it’s from Cookie Lee. Look everywhere, from dept. stores to boutiques.

Oh, I love that set! Boo that it didn’t work out!

I’m borrowing either my mom or my grandmother’s pearls and pearl earrings. I like the something borrowed aspect!

Good thing you tried them on first! I hate how the look of things can completely change when you put them on.

I have been looking for jewelry for ages. The dress was no problem to find it’s the accessories that really got me.
I’ve been on Etsy for months trying to find a piece that I think will go but it’s so hard until you try it on to know whether it will work or not.

These are so pretty! I’m disappointed that they don’t look good with your ensemble! I’m wearing a pair of classic Tiffany & Co. pearl earings, very simple. My FH gave them to me as a surprise so they have special meaning. As for the necklace, I’m not sure (but I haven’t picked my gown yet, so there’s no rush); however, I’ve considered something DIY like this from Style Me Pretty: http://www.stylemepretty.com/2009/06/11/diy-project-pearl-necklace/

oh that’s too bad they look really gorgeous in the pictures. but there’s nothing like actually seeing it in person so you made the right decision. don’t worry, i’m sure you’ll come across something fabulous!
