Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

I am not going to lie, for this particular project I haven’t being as involved as I would like to be. Do you know why?

Building the Poodle Chapel - Part 1 : wedding ceremony 1 chapel1

Because Mr. Poodle, my FIL and lots of their friends like big machines way more than I do! And that doesn’t mean I don’t like them! But most of the time we are at Mr. Poodle’s grandparents’ ranch, I have a box of wedding crafts so the girls can help me with them, while the boys play out in the field! smile03

I think I should start this post with the very first decision we had to make about our chapel, which was finding the perfect spot for the altar and choosing the direction of the aisle.

To make that decision, we considered the time of the ceremony and direction of the sun (so our guests will not be blind by it), and there were a few very good spots to consider. We considered a few different spots for 2 weeks, until we found something in one of the spots we had selected—it was a SIGN!

We were all wondering what was this white thing was that we had seen from far away, and my MIL went and picked them up. They were wedding balloons!!! How cool is that!

[ YES, those are wedding bell balloons! ]

So, after the altar and aisle position were selected, FIL K and Uncle S marked off the area.

It was a cold and windy day!

Te weekend after that, FIL K and some family friends worked on making the surface smooth and pretty.

The next thing was to decide what to make the aisle out of. My MIL liked the idea of having a stone pathway (that’s why there are so many rocks in the first picture) but after making a small mock up, we realized that we would need TONS of them. So my FIL came up with the really cute idea of just lining the edges of the aisle with stone. We all loved it, except Curly… he just wanted to be fed! After getting the thumbs up, Mr. Poodle started digging the whole aisle out so it would be easier to insert the stones.

I can say that he had a lot of fun!

I also had my share of fun shoveling while playing with the dogs. smile03 After all, I’m a poodle, too!

I also helped him smooth it all out.

We were ready to head out!

[ MIL, Mr. Poodle, Baby Poodle Curly and me at the end of the day ]

I was pretty surprised the first day that I saw all of the people who were willing to go down there and help us out. We are so blessed by all of these people that want to be a part of our special day. Sometimes it is overwhelming. I love Mr. Poodle’s family! They totally rock, and their friends are just as awesome. That last day we had about 11 people there with us… that’s pretty cool! Sometimes it DOES take a village! smile03

Stay tuned, because this is just the beginning!

Have you had a lot of people helping you out in the process of planning your wedding? Were you surprised by some of the people that really worked hard to help make your wedding happen?
