Mrs. Pudding's Picture
Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/Vermont Age and Occupation: 26, High School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer Engineer Engagement Date: August 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall Reception About Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
About Mrs. Pudding

I thought that I would take a moment to update you on the state of my current DIY projects. Remember those fabric flower escort cards that I am making?

They’re safely hidden away in a hot chocolate mix can. Does it look like there are 200 of them in there? And my picture frame table numbers? Well, see for yourself:

Not even close to being done, are they? Recently, I have noticed a huge trend with my wedding planning. Basically, I spend hours upon hours researching different options. After I finally find an idea that I love, I give 100% of my effort to making the perfect prototype. Than I blog about it, and make a couple more. And than I move on to researching a new project. In my head, I feel like I’ve accomplished something, since a decision was made. The reality is much different.

I have made a vow to myself not to start any new projects until I finish the ones in progress. But I have to wonder… am I the only one with a case of B-SAS (bridal short attention span)?

Haha! I’m the same way! I do it a lot with my paper DIY projects. I figure that the finished project is on my computer and then I just leave it, knowing that I still have to print, cut and mount!! I think I have to many ideas in my mind, that it’ll explode!

I’m definitely like this, too. I get an idea, start working on it, and then work full speed for a weekend on it…and then don’t ever want to pick it up again. I think I burn myself out.

Um, no. :) I think we all do that. It’s more fun that way! Until you’re down to the last couple of weeks and you go, “oh yeah, nothing’s done yet.”

Definitely sounds like me too!! (and the FI!!) I’m half-way through the STDs (for like, 2 months!), but I’m thinking of completing the look for the centerpieces, table numbers, website….

That’s definitely me! I bought my fabric for the table runners, but that was such an ordeal that I need to rest up before convincing my mom it’s time to get started on them. I think it’s a good thing we’re not having favors . . . I’d probably die from research overload and never actually complete them anyway.

I totally have 7 projects going on at once. While working on my bridal sash and fascinator, I am researching stuff for my next project. I think I need to take the same vow!

Yes! I realized last week that I have about 5 projects that are half done and I actually have to finish all of them now! No more new projects for me until I finish those!

I blame weddingbee for this problem! too many good ideas show up all at once! LOL but really, I don’t have much DIY and still 8 months to go so I should be good

I can’t wait to see the final product! I made a rule that I can’t start a new project until the prior is complete, otherwise nothing would get finished!

Hahaha, I am the same way! I get really excited about one project, finish a few, show it to people, and then move on to another one.
Interesting little note- I read somewhere (probably a magazine at the gym) that when you tell people about your ambitions or projects, the part of your brain that lights up when you accomplish something lights up as well- so if you were to tell people, “I’m running a triathalon!” (I’m not), they would probably say “oh, great, good job!” and apparently, your brain gets this little mental “pat on the back”, and you get that sense of accomplishment without actually having done it!

I just thought that I’d share :) if nothing else, it’s an interesting thing to ponder. Though, I still tell people–I get too darn excited to keep it to myself!

haha, i totally agree with you! Finishing up already-planned-and-decided projects isn’t really fun for me, but I guess it must be done!

This sounds too familiar for comfort. I made that very same vow this week! I have all these craft supplies sitting around, gathering dust.
