About Mrs. Hot Dog

Because I’ve been bangin’ out projects like they’re going out of style! I finished all the bridesmaids’ gifts, made myself a hair flower, learned how to make a sewing/fabric-folding flower, AANNNNDDDD made my ring bearer pillow!

I posted about my inspiration for it already and today, it came to fruition!! Wanna know how?? OK, well I started taking pictures part of the way through, so you’ll have to visualize the first few steps.

  1. First, pick your fabric. I used a raw canvas material. Since it was pretty thin, I lined it with some iron-on fabric that’s supposed to make it sturdier (worked great!).
  2. Cut out the size and shape you want. I made mine 6 inches square. So I cut out 2 - 8 inch sections, to account for sewing the seams.
  3. Place them so they’re facing together (wrong sides OUT) and sew them together along 3 sides. Once you get to the 4th side, sew in towards the center, leaving about a 3 inch opening.
  4. Now, turn it inside out, and push out the corners. It should look like a pillow, without stuffing. So, stuff it!
  5. After you’ve filled it, use a simple whip stitch to close the hole.

Apparently This is a Crafty Weekend! : wedding cheyenne crafts decor diy Img0040 Now that it’s all sewn up, you can do pretty much whatever you want! I decided to put the gather in the middle of the pillow:

Apparently This is a Crafty Weekend! : wedding cheyenne crafts decor diy Img004001 Using the kanzashi flower tutorial, I made a larger one, using 8 petals.

Cute, right?! I may attach some elastic to the underside of the pillow to make it easier to hang on to for my little guy.

There really are limitless possibilities for this! And it was SOOOO easy! Maybe I will have all the projects done 2 months before the wedding…

Are you DIYing your ring bearer pillow? Are you using any interesting materials or techniques?

Wow this is awesome! I wish I was having a ring bearer and a flower girl in my wedding, but unfortunately there are no children who are that young in either of our families that can fulfill those cute roles. :(

Awesome! I like it! We had planned to get a block of green floral foam and glue moss and flowers onto it and a ribbon to carry for our “ring pillow”.

That looks simple enough, even I could do it! Haha. What a cute little pillow. Too bad we aren’t having a ring bearer. What are you doing for your flower girls?

Love the flower and button in the middle! I too made me own ring bearer pillow but went classic and did a satin pillow with a satin ribbon wrapped around tied in a bow at the gather to hold the “wedding rings”. The ribbon on the back side of the pillow will serve as the gripping piece for my ring bearer.
