About Mrs. Pretzel

Did you spy some cute recycling in our favors?

Beer on the Brain: Recycled Beer Box : wedding diy favors seattle 4406262

Yep, the tag and mason jar top are made from recycled beer boxes. Somewhere on the interwebs I stumbled across a bride who used cardboard from food boxes to make her save the dates. This sparked an idea with Mr Pretzel so we started saving boxes from six packs and have amassed quite the collection. We weren’t sure what we were going to do with them but once we bought a mason jar to put our beer bread mix in I had a brainstorm. I picked up a large circle paper punch and started playing with our beer boxes.

I disassembled the beer box and began punching. I quickly discovered that on the cardboard box the circle punch would punch an incomplete circle, leaving 3/4 of an inch uncut (it cuts thinner paper perfectly though). I used this “defect” to my advantage, creating a double circle that can be folded into a card.

Pretty cool! Out of this one beer box I was able to make 5 cards and 6 tops.

The tops fit perfectly under the jar collar and the cards make nice tags with cooking instructions.

Mr Pretzel is quite pleased with our recycled tags and can’t wait to make more from the wide array of colorful beer boxes that we’ve been collecting.

Are you using recycled materials in your wedding?

THIS IS AWESOME! My fiance and I have saved all our beer boxes in case we got inspired to craft with them, and I think we’ve found it!! Thank you! Love this idea like WHOA.

I love the idea its a great way to recycle!! I would think this would want you to break your Lent “sacrifice” and want a beer while crafting, no?!

I’ve been to the Pike Brewery! It was one of our “must stops” when we visited Seattle this summer (what can I say, FOB and FH love beer!).

I can’t believe I failed to notice the iconic New Belgium labels. What an awesome idea. I love that you turned the failure of the hole-puncher into a clever and fabulous advantage. Such a great idea, but Pretzel, you guys have got to be torturing yourselves with all these delicious beer cartons around! I’ll have a pint for you this weekend. ;)

These are SO CUTE! If we didn’t have some serious teetotalers (what’s up with that?) we’d totally steal this idea! I swear we’re soulmates, Pretzel.

I love this idea! It looks very unique, plus you are recycling. And beer bread sounds yummy. I will have to look for a recipe. Mmmm, warm bread.
