Mrs. Argyle's Picture
Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

Dressing Up My Dog

March 9th, 2010 @ 2:59 pm by Mrs. Argyle

Last week, while surfing around on the web, I found this.

Dressing Up My Dog : wedding pets st louis 1

In case you are wondering, that little beauty is a dog collar. Now, before you go roll your eyes at me, let me explain something.

I have the most adorable dog (trust me, and if you don’t believe me, just hold on a second). And, because we are not having children at our wedding, we do not have a flower girl or ring bearer. For that reason, I have been contemplating having our dog go down the aisle as our “flower dog” (again with the eye rolling, you can stop). Our ceremony venue does not allow for pets, BUT I have been told on many occasions by wedding planners and couples that they have brought their dog into the venue. You see, no one is actually at the Jewel Box monitoring it while weddings are happening (or so I’ve been told). Thus, my reasoning for thinking about it.

Don’t worry, I would not dress her in a frilly outfit or bride costume. The plan was to have her wear a cute color or ribbon, so for all obvious reasons, I love this pearl collar, which was originally featured in an issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. But, Mr. Argyle and I decided to not have her be our “flower dog” for a few reasons. Mostly, we don’t want to put anyone in charge of her on the wedding day, nor do we want to put her through that.

And, as promised, a picture of the cutest dog ever.*

*I realize you may not agree with me, but you should. Just saying.

Did you consider having your pet in your wedding? If you decided to leave them out, what was your reasoning?

My FMIL tried her hardest to get us to use Mr. Library’s dog Fozzie as our ring bearer. I just didn’t like the idea of the dog getting antsy and taking off. Plus, our reception location didn’t allow dogs, so what would we do with him after the ceremony? And your dog is absolutely adorable! What kind is she?

Our dogs will be there. They’re a huge part of our relationship. :) Love that collar, too.

I wish we could include our furbaby! Unfortunately, our venue doesn’t allow pets. Also, I’m pretty sure she’d get VERY distracted were she to have to walk between 100+ people.

I’m already sad thinking about Juno staying home alone all day : (

Adorable! My FI really wants to include or dog in the mix, but he is a Jack Russell and we would regret it due to his insane amount of energy, ADD and desire to kill everyone with kindness (and kisses)!

Mr. Hot Dog and I have 4, yes FOUR, dogs at this point. So it may be a bit of circus trying to orchestrate them all walking down the aisle. They will, however, be at the wedding. Just roaming around, mooching food, being “guard dogs”. I realize some people might balk at this but, hey, it’s a ranch! Why not?!

LOVE the collar! I have one for my little Mia and she loves it ;)

the collar could be perfect for her! we can’t have our dogs at the ceremony, and will just have pictures with them beforehand.

So cute!! I would love to have my dog in my wedding but its just not going to happen because they are not allowed in the church and also we don’t want to have to put anyone in charge of her during the wedding either.

Such a cutie pie! My doggies are both half Yorkie and she looks a lot like my little Hazel :)

I grew up with a Yorkie and they are the cutest dogs ever! I know my little guy would have gotten more scared than anything with so many people around trying to touch him, because of course, being the cutest dog ever, everyone would try to touch him! If you’re getting ready at home you could always get a few pictures with her while you’re in your wedding dress, AND if she happened to be wearing a beautiful pearl collar it would be all the more perfect!

I wanted our Yorkie to be included, but I don’t want to make anyone else responsible for tending to her. Our wedding and reception are an hour from our home, so it’s not like someone could just run her back to our house (and I’m not leaving her locked up in our hotel).
So, unfortunately, she will miss the wedding.

Our two pugs (one black & one white) are going to play an integral role in the ceremony. They’re going to walk down the aisle—NOT dressed up in wedding clothes though—as our ring bearers. We have a dog sitter who is coming to bring them to the ceremony and then take them home.
