Mrs. Ribbons's Picture
Mrs. Ribbons, Washington D.C./Bloomington, IN Age and Occupation: 23, Research Associate for an international development firm Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Proposal Coordinator for contractor Engagement Date: May 2, 2008 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: Indiana Memorial Union About Me: I'm an Indiana transplant living in DC with my fiance and our pretty kitty. I enjoy the color pink, I'm obsessed with the Dior New Look and tulle, and I heart my level 80 paladin. I'm a sucker for bad TV, literary theory, and cakes of all persuasion. I also happen to be marrying the cutest closet nerd around! It's all about Bloomington for us because it's where we met -- on the college paper. If there's a theme for our small summertime wedding, it's Dior meets Dorothy Draper on a lark in Bloomington; think poofy, plus graphic prints, bold colors, and a whole lot of prettiness.

Press the Button: Invites

March 9th, 2010 @ 2:36 pm by Mrs. Ribbons

When last we met on the subject of invites, I was working out some kinks. Suffice it to say, the kinks have been worked out because I got the letterpress portion of my invites in the mail last week!

I never revealed the final design, so here it is.

So, I packaged this design in InDesign and sent it off to my letterpress printer, Lucky Duck Press. He’s reasonably priced and easy to work with, so it was a pretty simple process. About a month later, I got my 50 invites and envelopes back. Without further ado, our invites.

I’m refraining from a full reveal because… the rest of the suite isn’t done! I’m flat printing the other components and I have yet to do it. Let’s just hope they’re done in a month.

Did you DIY your invite design and have them letterpressed? What printer did you use and how did they turn out?

nice work! I got inspired on letterpress invitations but they get over my budget. So I designed my invitation in corel based on a smock invitation but flat printed.

The plan is to DIY our design (almost done) then pay for thermographic printing, which is still raised-letter but a bit cheaper than letterpress. Still waiting on some quotes to get back to see if that’s possible.
