Origami Revisited

March 10th, 2010 @ 1:34 pm by Mrs. Chick

I mentioned my desire to incorporate origami into our wedding day in this post. Here are some more ideas!

Wouldn’t this be a perfect wedding centerpiece? Maybe we could have a cluster of them in the middle of the table in various colors.

How cute are these?! You could have your something blue!

I think these look so chic… they would go perfectly with a gray and yellow themed wedding… hanging off branches, swaying in the breeze:

Are you incorporating origami into your wedding?

I really wanted to do the 1000 origami cranes, but I lost interest after I figured out how long it took me to fold one. Those little earrings are darling though!

I’m doing little origami cranes. Not sure if I’m going to hit 1000, but I figure I’ll place them around our food stations and bar area for a little extra something.

I’m doing kusudama balls for our aisle decor! I told my fiance that the tradition is to fold 1,001 paper cranes, but I’ll be folding a thousand paper petals! :-)

I’m favoring origami in my wedding decor as well! Where? I don’t know yet, but thanks for the ideas! LOVE the origami earrings! Very different!

I’m making our luau-fiesta rehearsal dinner invitations using origami aloha shirts! I found the instructions here: http://art-smart.ci.manchester.ct.us/how_to/how_to_hi_shirt.html and I used my coupons at Michaels to find appropriate paper. Each one will be a little different, ’cause I couldn’t choose just one paper pattern! I haven’t decided if I’ll glue them to cardstock and have the info on the back, or if I’ll cut out cardstock in the shape of the shirt… we’ll see.

I finished the 1000 paper cranes that we’ll use to decorate the gazebo we’ll be getting married under! And I also folded 130 cranes on prettier, patterned washi origami that will do double-duty: first, they’ll be part of the centerpieces, and then become favors!

I actually did ‘cootie catcher’ programs! I had them made by a lady on etsy and they came in the mail a week ago. The folding will be long and tedious but they are so cute and fun!!! I have folded a few just to make sure I remembered how and it came right back to me.

We are! We are doing origami birds (not cranes - they look like songbirds) as placecards. They are 3 different colors to let the servers know which meal each person should receive, and add a nice pop of color to the place setting. I love ‘em!
