Create Your Own Font

March 11th, 2010 @ 11:35 am by Mrs. Argyle

For you creative and DIY brides out there, here is a great site where you can scan in your own handwriting (or that of a friend/family member that you like) and they can turn it into a font!

You’ll have to download the template and print it out. Once you do that, you just need to fill in all of the necessary information on the form by following the instructions. The next step is to scan it into your computer as a PNG or JPEG format and upload it to the website.

The last step is to wait for it to upload. You’ll get to preview it to make sure you like it first, and then you can download it to your Mac or PC.

I tried it out for myself before I encouraged you all to use it, and it’s pretty spot on (and easy)! Check it out for yourself.

And, I’m sure you’re wondering if that’s really my handwriting. Yes, it is. I never quite grew out of my 6th grade handwriting, sadly.

Try it for yourself!

@farmersdaughter: Oh that stinks - they must have just changed that! When I created this last month, I was able to download it to my computer. Sad :(

@JanieLeigh: Not sure what I’d use my for either!

Its only $10, so definitely not as pricey as other for-purchase fonts. Still a very fun idea!

This is sooooo cool although like you, my handwriting isn’t that nice either and more like a 6th grader…maybe 7th grader. LOL
Thanks for sharing!

So much fun! I definitely just tried it (I have a scanner sitting right next to me at work, how could I not!?)

It’s still uploading, though I don’t think I’ll pay the $10 to download it. Still fun, though!

I am totally doing this when I get home today. I would make my own, but for $10 it seems like a pretty good deal.

That’s so fun! If you use Fonts for Peas, they’ll even turn your handwriting into a font and for FREE! They did mine here: http://kevinandamanda.com/fonts/fontsforpeas/pea-lillindy/

They have other great fonts and doodles you can also download for free, too.

This is an awesome idea! Everyone always tells me that I have nice handwriting and I wanted to personally write each guest’s name on their escort card! I will definitely try this out as a way to save my hand from the hard work!

@Miss Dachshund: I did the same thing the first time I saw it.

@Rosie Girl: You’re the first person to say that about my handwriting!

@Miss Pug: Same for me, but I just had to try it out!

@Lillindy: I love Peas for Fonts! We used one of them on our save the dates and our wedding invitation suite!

@Johnitta: You should do it!
