Back in January on Ribs’s birthday, we visited Philly for our engagement photos. Ms. Candy Corn had advertised that she was doing a few pro bono sessions to build her portfolio and I jumped at the chance. Our wedding day photographer, Heidi, is based in Atlanta, so we probably would have skipped these if it weren’t for Candy Corn’s generosity!

When it came to picking out the wardrobe, I will admit there wasn’t much rhyme or reason. I wanted us to look coordinated, but not matchy matchy. This is the breakdown!

My outfit

Long-sleeved black onesie from American Apparel (necessary for the short skirt!)
Green faux taffeta mini from H&M
Black dotted tights from Express
Gold bow platform shoes by Coach, found at DSW
Fuchsia coat from Express purchased eons ago

His Outfit

White button down from J.Crew
Pink, Green, and Black plaid tie by Isaac Mizrahi for Target
Black v-neck sweater from H&M
Jeans from H&M
Brown loafers by Calvin Klein from Macy’s
Green and blue striped military watch from J.Crew
Black pea coat from Express

My hair was a total afterthought. I intended to wear it down and straightened, but at the last minute decided to curl it. Well, curling never looks right on me, so at the very last-last minute I put it up in a bun. It wasn’t ideal, but I think it worked out well enough.

So cute! You guys look great! I want to see this outfit you’re wearing underneath the coat!

I went SHOPPING! I like wearing dresses best so I picked out 2 dresses - a casual and a more formal one - and then picked Mr. Lace’s outfits based off of that so we’d coordinate, but not match.

I’m so last minute with everything! Procrastination is my middle name. Actually, I’d bought my FI a gray sweater for Christmas, but waited until an hour before my engagement shoot to try to locate a complimentary gray sweater for myself! It’s crazy because I’d just gotten my hair done and ended up ruining it as I ran through the mall frantically trying to find a ‘GRAY’ sweater that would flatter my figure! Well, in the end, I found the perfect sweater, but had to go back to my hair stylist, 5 minutes before my scheduled shoot to get my hair re-done! It was a crazy day, but the pics were fabulous!

Love the fuschia jacket! I’m wearing a sweater that flatters my figure with jeans and a dress I pull out of the closet. I am debating about how I should do my hair also - I’m in the same dilemma as you were…

i only realized how much thought ppl put into epix outfits after i started reading WeddingBee. I wore a dressy black top and he wore a black dress shirt, both of us in dark denim. Simple, but very us.

Love the bright color of yr coat!
