Kids’ Activity Books

March 12th, 2010 @ 9:31 am by Mrs. Frozen Yogurt

We knew early on that we wanted to have a kids’ table with all sorts of goodies for the kids. I also knew that I wanted to make a special activity book for the kiddos to keep them occupied. Luckily, making an activity book was a lot easier than I thought it might be. I just Googled “coloring book wedding” and all sorts of wonderful free images popped up. I used Microsoft Publisher to put everything in a book template and I was set to start printing. I used white cardstock, twine and a hole punch to pull it all together. Here was my end product:

Kids' Activity Books : wedding dallas favors kids 110 1

I wanted to use some of the larger ribbon I had leftover from my ribbon wands to tie through the hole punch, but I found that when the kids would open the books to start coloring, the ribbon would get in the way. It was cute, but not practical.

Here’s the inside:

Kids' Activity Books : wedding dallas favors kids 24 2

Kids' Activity Books : wedding dallas favors kids 34 3

Kids' Activity Books : wedding dallas favors kids 44 4

Kids' Activity Books : wedding dallas favors kids 53 5

And what will they use to color these books? Some wonderful branch shaped colored pencils:

Kids' Activity Books : wedding dallas favors kids 72 7

Each child will get their own set of colored pencils and an activity book. I also have a few more activities and items for them, but you’ll have to wait for the recaps to see them all!

Are you putting together an activity book for the kids? What other types of activities will you have at the kids’ table?

Oh! Those pencils! I love! I’m a big fan of coloring at weddings. I’m having some coloring stuff set up on the tables, and we have no children attending. I color a lot. :p

Love the pencils!!!

I did a similar activity book and when I showed my 8 yr old the book she asked if she could have it right away. So I say they’re a big hit.

Just curious - if you (or anyone) are doing for the not so small kids like ages 11-13?

We had a similar book, but the person who was “gifting” this didn’t get them to me in time because her MIL was in the hospital. We only had 8 kids at the wedding and they were entertained by dancing (and the older two brought video games).

Where did you find those pencils? I saw them in a wedding on another blog and don’t know where to find them.

Yes, I was hoping to do something like that for the kids. I’m just giving them regular old boxed crayons, but those colored pencils are very cute!

very cute! much more creative than my “buy whatever is available at target” method for stacking the kids’ tables. the pencils are adorable.

I too am having a coloring book, but with a small box of crayons. I’m putting together a goody bag for the kids with some candy and other small toys to keep them entertained! Love your activity book!!

That is the most adorable thing ever! And that’s a great idea. I don’t plan on having alot of kids to be able to have a kids table, but I was concerned how to keep the small kids entertained. A small coloring book/activity book is a great idea. Thanks for sharing this
