Mrs. Pudding's Picture
Mrs. Pudding, Greater Toronto Area/Vermont Age and Occupation: 26, High School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Computer Engineer Engagement Date: August 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Ceremony, Cultural Hall Reception About Me: Quite literally a citizen of the world, I was born in Poland, grew up in Canada, and now live in the beautiful state of Vermont. I love reading historical biographies, multi-tasking, teasing my hair, and, despite my height, wearing high heeled shoes. I am the ultimate klutz with an uncanny ability to put on a graceful front. Mr. Pudding and I have been dating for over six years, and are very excited to finally merge our (very large) families. We are planning a traditional Polish-Catholic wedding that is anything but predictable.
About Mrs. Pudding

Mama’s Girl

March 12th, 2010 @ 1:39 pm by Mrs. Pudding

I finally pulled the trigger on ordering the bridesmaids’ dresses! Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement in making this very difficult decision. I really couldn’t have done it without you!

Mama's Girl : wedding bridesmaid dress vermont Bmdres01 BM+Dres01

How gorgeous are my Ladies?

Where did this hesitation come from? I am usually a very decisive person - very “down to business”. So what caused me to go so loopy?

I spent some time thinking about it, and realized that I had a hard time making the decision because I didn’t have Mama Pudding’s approval. It’s been really hard planning this wedding without having her immediate input (good or bad). Don’t get me wrong - Mama Pudding’s advice sometimes makes me want to pull my hair out. Still, I love her critical eye, and I know that when she says that something looks nice, it must really, truly be spectacular!

I finally ordered the dresses when Sister P took Mama P to a Canadian salon that carried the B2 line. Sister P tried in on, and Mama Pudding love it. The next day, I ordered the dresses.

Is anyone else planning their wedding far away from their mom? Do you miss her input?

You are not alone….I still seek my mom’s sound advice, even outside of wedding planning. It’s always nice to have a mother’s wisdom and input when making a decision. =)

Glad you went with these dresses, they are stunning!

I totally agree! I was lucky enough to have my mom come along to the Running of the Brides with me when I ended up finding my dress. Thank goodness she was there! She had to be my eyes and Miss Sox in the City’s eyes.

Miss Pudding, those dresses are GORGEOUS!

I’m planning my wedding thousands of miles away from everyone except the groom, lol.
My family, friends and bridesmaids are all in the UK and we’ve just moved to Toronto and the wedding’s in Spain so torn between excitement and worry as I’ll be buying my dress and the bridesmaids dresses without any of them to ask their advice.

Do you mind sharing how much those dresses cost and do they come in different colours? They are exactly the kind of thing I was thinking of : )

I hear you! Definitely miss my mom’s input. I’ve been trying to think of ways to keep her more involved, despite the distance.

Yes, I changed my wedding gown 2x because my mom was not there to see me in the dress :(. However, she did get to see a picture of it. I tried to include in as much as I can via email. My wedding is the very reason she got an email account.

Yes. It is very hard and takes a lot of phone calls emails and mail in general. I travel once a month to take care of wedding business and be with her!

@worldfairy: They come in many different colours! We actually ordered them in Cayman Blue, which is a navy blue shade. They cost just under $180 in the USA, but I know that they were $230 in Canada (at least at the store that Sister and Mama P visited). They are very beautiful and flattering in real life!

My mom passed away 4 years ago and planning a wedding without her input is really hard, I can’t even pick up the phone and call to ask her for an opinon-I have to just go it alone and hope that I’m making the right decision.

My mom and I live a state apart and I have been making all wedding decisions on my own. I miss having her input even if I don’t like it! I even offered her to stay at my place! haha!

I’m with you, Pudding. I really value my mom’s input, but since she’s all the way in Florida, I can’t always get it before I make a decision! Love the dresses, btw!

I live 2 states away…..2 big states!!! it is so hard! She was with me for dress shopping, and i didn’t realize how much i valued her opinion!

Now when I’m trying to get smaller things done (invitations, flowers, etc) I have to take pictures every step of the way and get her and my sisters opinion of everything before I commit to anything….it’s so ridiculous! and takes way more time that I normally would take…. I don’t know why i ever thought I could move away from my family!!!!

I’m 3,000 miles from my mom, and it has been hard. The first time I went dress shopping without her out here, she was pretty much crushed that she wasn’t able to do that with me. I did do my first-ever dress shopping appointment when I visited her the week after I got engaged, and that actually ended up being the dress I bought, so that helped. Also she is flying out to see me for the week of her spring break (she’s a teacher) this month and we’re cramming in all the vendor appointments we can, so that she can be included in the vision. It’s hard though, I try to tell her about everything, but I never know if it’s going to make her excited or sad that she’s missing it.

My Mom is over 2,000 miles away, so I definitely feel your pain! Luckily she is in town this next week, and we’re going on a wedding planning bonanza. She wasn’t able to come with me to try on dresses, which makes me sad. I’m hoping to stop by the bridal shop and show her my dress, even if I can’t try it on again.

Mommas are great! :)
